from a teenager | Reviewer: chad | 10/13/07
i teared as i read the lyrics to the song.
it practicly targets me... a teenager going through life realising that they're living a hollow life and all the things around them is making them confortable but none of it will matter... the world i used to know is mearly temporary, i used to believe it was all that matters... i was too scared and stall am to step out of my confort zone and challenge the new world i see. I seriously dont get the lines: "What if all the world's inside of your head?Just creations of your own. Your devils and your gods all the living and the dead. And you're really all alone
it kinda contradicts everything that comes after...anyways this can be enterpretted so many ways but the song rocks, its very sad...but more importaintly its deep.
Look deeper | Reviewer: Lee | 9/21/07
Although I'm sure teenagers can somewhat relate to this songs meaning, their short sightedness and limited awareness of the world makes the true meaning of this song incomprehensible.
If you think the pain you experience from being a confused teenager is anything like the pain men feel, after being trapped in the cage they created.. you've got a lot to learn.
Each owns interpretation is valid, although the depth and meaning of this song cannot be truly understood until one has experienced and realized the pain of living in your cage. Your mortgage, your car payments, your credit cards, your big screen TV's and your surround sound audio systems.. It all ends up owning you.
"See the safety of the life you have built.. Everything where it belongs.. Feel the hollowness inside your heart... And it's all, right where it belongs."
Damn, you made it again! | Reviewer: Scarlett | 9/11/07
This song is like Hurt, I mean, it doesn't mean the dame, but it takes me to the same depression lvl and it comes in the right moment of my life (just like hurt)
DAMN!!
it hurts so bad to listen to it... but I can't stop it...
Powerfully gripping | Reviewer: Nooneinmportant | 8/31/07
Another amazing work of beautiful art from Trent Reznor, Right Where It Belongs will appeal to everyone. No matter what age, race, or gender. This song reaches out to grab you by the heart, squeezing gently; not hard enough to hurt, but enough to bring a tear to your eye. Depending on who you are, and what your past is, you will interpret it in different ways. But regardless, Trent has made a song that strikes deep for anyone. You'll find it difficult to tear yourself away from this song, and easy to sink into it's gentle lullaby and listen for hours on end. A deeply emotional song...
Excellent WORK!! | Reviewer: The-MaxX | 8/21/07
(this is just my opinion)
This song represents a life of an adolescent guy or girl..
Knowing so, anyone who is or allready passed by that stage of life feels a connection at the second he understands the lyric.
All music should be like this.
With REAL LIRYC! Not BS. or Lala's Nana's or DotDot's as a "lyric"
Just Brilliant!!
Solipsism | Reviewer: Jason Repa | 8/13/07
Solipsism (Latin: solus, alone + ipse, self) is the philosophical idea that "My mind is the only thing that I know exists". Solipsism is an epistemological or metaphysical position that knowledge of anything outside the mind is unjustified. The external world and other minds cannot be known and might not exist. In the history of philosophy, solipsism has served as a skeptical hypothesis.
I don't like NIN much | Reviewer: rabidbaboy | 8/8/07
But this song is one of my favorites atm, and maybe one of my favorites PERIOD.
You could listen to it all day, just staring ahead.
It doesn't matter who you are, where you live, what you've done, what you believe in. When you listen to this song, it's about you, no matter what state of life you are in.
It's like Reznor is sticking his mic to you and saying "Hey, you, sing"
And you have no choice but to do so.O_O
