Good show. | Reviewer: Scott | 10/10/07
Just for the record, System of a Down also bashes Bush. Before you take a stab at Capital G, take a little listen to B.Y.O.B. It's just a little ludicrous to bash Trent for doing something and praise another band when they have done the same thing.
gimmick? i don't think so | Reviewer: rena | 10/4/07
ryan, that's like saying your emotions are gimmicks. just because his highschool teachers say he was friendly and outgoing, does that mean he's always happyhappy? there are times when people get mad and sad and all that shit, obviously.
NINcompoop ahahahahahhahahahha tbats so funnyyy
sorry, i'll go on. many artists are like that, take The Cure for instance. they've been called the king of gloom and depressing...blah blah but as Robert Smith said, he's smiled more in his life that cried, he just doesnt write about it. cant that go for Trent? does an artist have to write all of his emotions into the art? no. can s/he pick just some? totally. i thought you'd have figured that out sooner.
trent robbing your music talent? i'm glad he didn't. he'd be broke by now, if he did.
OK Then | Reviewer: Johnson | 9/26/07
Um Ryan.. You're sounding a little paranoid there. A man you've never met "stole" your musical ideas? As for the whole gimmick etc etc thing, who cares? I for one love NIN, have done ever since Pretty Hate Machine was released, and considering how good the latest stuff is I can't see an end to that love. Maybe you're right, its all an act, but honestly who gives a...? That is in no way detrimental to the music. Which is mind blowingly excellent, TR has been consistently at the forefront of technology and production techniques and his early music is still relevent today. Every song is brilliantly written and produced to perfection. That, to me, makes him special and impresive, not the hair, clothes or ex addictions. So what if people feel connected to something from his music? Isn't that better than feeling alone?

once again... | Reviewer: Ryan | 9/5/07
Well, Scott, I can respect your opinion...as for superiority, look at Ministry, A Perfect Circle, talented guitarists of System of a Down, hell, even Prince. I am hostile towards Trent for several reasons that most don't understand. I overcame a heroin addicion at 17, but that is my business and im not gonna beg sappy masses of kids for pity and sympathy. Im not gonna go live screaming "kill me!!" over and over to impressionable, obsessive fans with a smile on my face. Im not gonna try and pose all sexy and "grr" in pictures and then whine about poor me and my self loathing. I started writing my own music before i knew of this NIN shit, and now that i have, I feel almost like Trent "stole" my ideas (melodically and instrumentally) and turned them into a marketing scheme. His old teachers say things like "He was very friendly and outgoing in highschool." and that the "Dark avenging angel stuff is a marketing scam." OBVIOUSLY!! And now, the old psycho even went to trendy Bush-bashing as an act of desperation to cling to his precious limelite, the only thing he cares about. He is a pussy and acts like a poor little rich girl. Also, he shouldnt blame others so much ("God", "you", "her", "Capital G"..).
Best music ever. | Reviewer: Scott | 8/25/07
Wow, Ryan, I don't even know where to begin. Yes, Trent Reznor obviously just wants attention. That's why funneled two solid years of effort into a single album, The Fragile, right? Oh, and all those dark lyrics on Pretty Hate Machine and The Downward Spiral weren't written because Reznor was struggling through a very rough time in his life, what with a heroin addiction and all. It seems that you think that Trent Reznor puts about as much effort into his work as all the processed hip-hop and rock bullshit out there. I can understand if you don't like his music, but using that as justification for such atrocious underrepresentations ("He is nothing special.") is a ludicrous travesty. This man is the quintessential rock artist of the 90s. His music has more depth than anything I've ever heard before, and I would challenge you to find something superior or even comparable to it.
Rock on, Trent Reznor and Nine Inch Nails.
Attention Whore | Reviewer: Ryan | 8/24/07
Dont let this whiny, self-obsessed, narcisistic, image-concious old fool Trent Reznor suck you in. My little emo sister writes shit like he does in her diary. He tries so hard to act like this "poor, dark, mysterious tortured soul" for all you gullable young people. He feeds on the pity and attention he tries to get by purposely acting like he doesn't want it, too hardcore...but if you hate yourself, you dont pose half naked in a music video and share your patheticism with the whole world, trying to justify this sick, youthful mentality to all you NINcompoops. I like some of his music, but thats as far as anyone should take it with this phony. He is nothing special, listen to him talk, if he stopped getting fame and fortune, he wouldnt keep making music. He wouldnt keep getting his hair "dyed jet black every six weeks". He'd go cuddle up on the sofa with his dog eating Reese's and drinking for another 5 years until he shit out another over dramatic money making propaganda.
the way | Reviewer: Rufelieux | 6/20/07
The very first time I ever heard a NIN opus, I was smashed to the bone, finding more and more with every hearing. It was a long, long time ago, and I am still waiting for more and more. There's no week I couldn't listen to any NIN album. And as Jodie says - it fits my feelings inside perfectly. Can't wait for next gig.
Subtle perfection. | Reviewer: Jodie | 9/3/06
I am a huge Nine Inch Nails and Trent Reznor fan.
He has influenced me in so many ways.
He is ultimately a great songwriter, whether it be for piano solely, or for a band with distorted guitars and heavy synth.
I feel connected to him when I hear his songs, when I hear the lyrics that he put so much time and effort into doing, when they relate to my feelings.
You could listen to a song and the lyrics would fit perfectly into how you are feeling at the moment, and you say "Hey, wait a second. This guy knows how I feel." That is what makes a truly good artist, someone who can connect with you using simply words and console you to make you feel like you are not alone.
He brought industrial music to the masses, even though his music is a watered-down form of industrial (most of the time) and slightly more haunting, he still brought industrial to some peoples attention. His music is one that fits into that ideal slot between mainstream music and obscure. Which is good. =]
His instrumental pieces are also moving and to put it simply, beautiful.
The song 'Leaving Hope' from the limited edition Still EP is one of the most melancholy, deeply saddening songs I have ever heard. Even though it is an instrumental, he still conveys his great feelings of sadness from beginning to the very end.
To put it bluntly, I have a huge opinion of Trent Reznor. =p
And the band that he plays with live, also bring a lot of personality and they bring something good to the eclectic mix.

trent reznor is not only a genius but a god, everything he has ever created I have fallen in love with to my very soul. I don't know what I'll ever do if he dies or stops creating. I think a piece of me would die as well
