Simply stunning... | Reviewer: nailgun | 9/14/07
Being a slave to corporate America and how we sell our soul for so little... having once stood for something, and now nothing at all... I can totally relate to this song. It's about personal identity.

Es muy profunda y trata de la necesidad de alienarse de los demás para comprender mejor el interior de uno mismo.
No love | Reviewer: Roel | 8/19/07
Well, I just kinda "broke up" with someone and I think this song is about having love for someone who doesn't really love (or loved) you back...
So the "you" refers to "the love he thought they had for him, but didn't exist".
Just my thoughts...
awsome | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/14/07
I was thinking about this song for awhile and suddenly wondered about the meaning. I can see the layer of the song that is referring to freeing your mind from control of others by realizing where and how you see the world (from in your head).
At the same time, he starts earlier in the song by progressing through 'being less concerned' to 'it doesn't really matter anymore' to 'nothing really matters anymore', which seems to indicate a progressive growth of apathy. The music even wigs out at this point and gets really intense, listen for the synth.
Perhaps he is referring to the mentality of very arrogant and haughty people who see the universe as centered around them, while the picking at the scab of the idea of why and suddenly seeing things may refer to understanding and seeing the nature of such a mindset firsthand. Hence, 'things arn't as pretty on the inside' could be a realization of the beast we carry that often is invisible. The beast being a disconnect from others.
This is pretty out there and I was kinda intoxicated when I thought of this so perhaps this is not what hes going for. Just a thought.
Awsome song

belief in existence leads to suffering | Reviewer: andy | 7/19/07
These are great lyrics by Trent. Don't think this track is about God, though it could be considered spiritual. Basically very eastern, wei wu, buddhist, advaita. This is essentially saying that you don't exist, only in a relative sense. Nothing outside of your conciousness exists. You create this world. This life and all you see is just an elaborate dream of your own doing. In fact you don't even need to believe in existence in order to live. Try it and see how much anxiety you loose, when you no longer care whether you exist or not. People make others up just to hurt themselves. Say this World is real and nobody laughs. Say it is a dream and everyone desperately tries to hold onto some glimmer of an objective reality which by its very essence assumes an observer and an observed. The chorus of David Bowie's track from Hunky Dory 'Quicksand' essentially says the same thing: 'Don't believe in yourself, Don't deceive with belief, Knowledge comes with death's release'.
Read some Baudrillard or Allan Watts to further your understanding of the greatest illusion of all - the concept of Self!

I agree with Jen the song is about getting rid mind control - whether it's a god or boyfriend

Written like a true poet---full of angst and truth...
I've been writing since 1970 so I know when I hear a great, original writer.

This song is such a great song lyricly. I think the only person know knows exactly wot this song is is trent. But I think hes talkin about a voice in his head, one that tell him 2 do things, That end up with him hurting himself, and so he's tryin to tell himself that this voice doesnt exsit, and he made it up, and it needs to go.
and the scab bit is him playin with the idea of the voice, coz if he had of ignored it it wudnt of exsited, but by picking at it (playing with the idea) its made it worse till it cat be ignored.
Just an opinion, wonder what u guys thnk???
