The Reviews about Nightwish (page 4/ 4)
Question | Reviewer: Paine | 2/17/07
Nightwish is the best group I've heard in a long time. But my brother thinks that their the worst band ever. He listen's to Slipknot, Mushroomhead, Marilyn Manson, ect... and don't get me wrong i like them too.
How does he know he doesn't like them when he never listened to them?
Worst band ever? | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/27/07
You would have to be crazy to think that. And not the good kind. I can't stop laughing since I read a certain review.
Nightwish is kickass. Sometimes their songs are hard to understand, but who cares when it has a good beat like that? I also think the vocals give the songs a lot of energy. What else can I say except Nightwish is awesome!
Worst Band in History | Reviewer: Casey | 5/27/06
Tarja's vocals are overdone. The lyrics need a helluva lot of work. The music just sucks.
To anyone with AT LEAST a quarter of sanity, stay away. I'd rather listen to Britney Spears than this stuff. And God knows I hate Britney Spears.
Heaven's music | Reviewer: Ema | 5/6/06
Nightwish is the best band I have ever heard. When I had my first interraction with them, I was amazed of their skills and overwhelming talent, for they've done something which hasn't been made before. You will think: what's so special? There are many other female fronted metal bands: The Gathering, The third and the mortal etc. Yes, but Nightwish were able to combine really heavy metal, strong riffs and definitely a huge sound with a bombastic female voice, the one of Tarja Turunen, an operatic voice, a classical trained one. This is not the only factor of the success of the band. The talent and the feelings of the mastermind, Tuomas Holopainen, have given a unique "scent" to this music. It's something magic, elvish, which gives you a strong feeling that takes you to another world. They have travelled through time, from 1996, when the group was formed, until today. They have started with some acoustic stuff, the first Nightwish demo, made up by 3 songs: Etiäinen, Nightwish and The forever moments. The acoustic songs are also present on their first album, "Angels fall first"(1997). In these times, the band members were: Tuomas Holopainen, Tarja Turunen, Emppu Vuorinen, Jukka Nevalainen. Beginning with the "real Nightwish album", as Tuomas himself sais, "Oceanborn"(1998), they change the sweet sound from the first album and the electric guitar riffs and heavy rhytms appear. Also, a new member joins the band: the bass player Sami Vänskä. They make all together the album "Wishmaster"(2000) - which, in my opinion, is the best, and "Over the Hills and Far away"(2001), called after a cover song made after Gary Moore. Then the bass player leaves the band and in autumn 2001 Marco Hietala joins it. In the year 2002 Nightwish releases the "Century Child album" that the composer said it was the harder to make because of his feelings in those times, caused by the "loss of innocence". In 2004 they make the album "Once", with some completely different elements, a stronger music.
Unfortunately, their relationship with Tarja didn't seem to work so good any more, so that the guys decided to dismiss her. In the evening of 21st October 2005, after a huge concert at Hartwall Arena, the biggest in Finland, they gave her an open letter, in which the reasons were explained and there were expressed their best wishes. There have been press conferences, interviews and thousands of demos have been sent to the band. Now the guys will choose a new singer, someone to be able to replace perfectly Tarja's presence, even though that will be hard. I can just advice you to check out both the old and the new Nightwish, after the singer will be announced. It really worths a listen.
AMAZING!!!! | Reviewer: Trini | 8/31/05
I just recently discovered Nightwish and I must praise everything about them. Their deep, soulful music, the poetic lyrics, the incredible talent each of the members has...it's overwhelming. A band can't be that good.
If there's something I would like to do before I die, it's seeing them live. (And they were going to come but changed Chile for Brazil...hmph...)
Keep up Nightwish!
