I didn't like Anette too much at first, but I've gotten used to it and now, I LOVE her. On a more technical note: Tarja is a SOPRANO. Anette is a MEZZO-SOPRANO. She'll NEVER reach the high notes Tarja does. That being said, it's just a matter of preference. Listen to what you like but keep in mind that Nightwish has a new female singer. Things are NOT going to be THE SAME as before. If you don't like Anette (and God knows she's had enough exposure on YouTube for everybody to know her by now)don't buy (burn, copy, download...)any more NW albums and keep listening to the old stuff and Tarja's new stuff (which BTW, I'm not too crazy about). If you liked her, I'm sure you've already bought Dark Passion Play which is AWESOME. Nobody is MAKING anybody listen to the new NightWish. You don't like it? FINE. Move on. Tarja's still around. But I think Anette is doing a HECK of a job and I don't mean filling in Tarja's shoes: I mean establishing herself as a GREAT singer which couples perfectly with the band and their music. I like them both. Tarja's more operatic which was a bonus for the goth atmosphere they presented to the world. Yeah, Anette's more "pop-sounding". So? Is that a crime? I'm not about to buy any Britney's (shivers) albums for that. Still, Michael Jackson's (THE king of POP)stuff is ALL AWESOME. Like you never sung "Beat it" or "Billy Jean" EVER in the shower. Nightwish is STILL goth and STILL kick ASS big time. Dark Passion Play is their BEAT album so far. Looking forward to the next one since I can't get enough of them with just this one. ONCE was awesome. The have gotten better and better with each album, as it should be. If you've gotten this far, you should get a life. There's more to it than this whole Tarja vs. Anette issue. Me? And itt's petty, not to mention unnessecary. You can hate as much as you want, but look at the facts: Tarja was unhappy and thought she could do much better on her own so contemplated leaving after one more album. The band was unhappy as they thought Tarja was condemning the band. Tarja leaves band. Tarja = Happy making her own music. Band + Anette = Happy making their own music. As for Tarja being a total bitch, that's disputable, however there is alot of evidence to support this idea. But no-one will ever know. This song is clearly taking a stab at Tarja. So what? If Tarja was not in the wrong, it wouldn't offend her, it wouldn't apply to her and it would be another one of Nightwish's abstract songs. If she was, it's a well deserved slap in the face for her. As for Annete and Tarja - In this song I think that Annete's voice better ( in all other I like Tarja's voice ) . While Tarja is an amazing singer, great vocals and all I must say that with modern music Anette is the one for the band. Well I'm not sure as to why there was the change I personally don't care. If Anette had sung a song like this, I honestly would have probably gone a long time without hearing about Nightwish or deciding to actually listen to their music. Yes Tarja is amazing and its saddening to see her go, but their fan base will grow with the change in singers. We get it! There's a huge debate on who's greater, Tarja or Anette. As for my opinion, Tarja has one heck of a voice. Brilliant. Utterly perfect. I thought I'd hate the new Nightwish after her departure (we all know what happened...) Then I heard this song. This song kinda made me change my mind; Anette actually suits this song. It is useless to compare two different types of singing. At some places I dislike Annette's manner of singing, but some parts are really written for her. Tarjas voice is beautiful, full of volume, but in some places she sounds too "clumsy". I also think, the the quality of Tuomas's music became better and more diverse after Tarja left. On the other hand, Tarja's solo album sounds quite monotonous and boring, especially taking into concideration the big fuss that was made around this album by Tarja and her husband. I expected a lot more out of this new project. But simply putting on the scale the DDP album and Tarja's album - I believe that overall Nightwish made a better work than Tarja. Besides Tarja is not a real opera singer, she wouldn't be able to sing in any real opera performance. So, judging from only side of music quality, Nightwish wins so far... I did not mean to critisize Tarja, I only say the naked facts of my preference according to what I heard. Maybe next Tarja's album will be the bomb. Usually a Rammstein-dude, but I must admit that I was BLOWN AWAY by Amaranth and Bye Bye Beautifull. And naturally I had to go out and get all their music, but sadly to experience that the lead singer was not the same... Catching up on the Nightwish story I found out that the was some shit about them havin changed their lead singer, wich I dont understand at all!!! Their old singer is (in my mind) much to operaish, where Anette really kicks ass!!!!!! I believe that she is the one to propel Nightwish to the level where they ALL deserve to be!
