The first time I heard it I fell in love with Nightwish. But I like both Tarja and Anette's singing. His separation was friendly, mine.. not so much... I spent 18 years with a woman I found out I barely knew. Once we separated I found out just how black hearted, narcissistic, and evil she really was. Even though my family and friends and even some of her family and friends kept warning me what this woman was and what she was doing to our children and I. I was too much in love and blinded to see it myself. Well... on this night I got together with my old friend he introduced me to Nightwish. I fell in love with them immediately. Anette's voice is so awesome, she has an incredible stage presence, and as a former singer myself I appreciated how she involves the rest of the band in the show and doesn't hog the spot light continually. I love all the tunes I have heard but Bye Bye Beautiful is my favorite. I play it several times a day but I never really knew the full lyrics to it. So today I decided to look up the lyrics and found this page. I read the lyrics as I listened to the tune several times. The more I read the lyrics the more I got what they are saying. I actually had kind of a personal break through when I finally got what the song is saying. It's like I had written the song myself, to describe my ex and what she had done to our sons and I. It just fits perfect and I decided to adopt the song as kind of my new life's anthem. If i had any doubt about how I felt about the song I then discovered the reviews here and read Michael's... It blew me away how Michael had the exact same feeling I had about the song. Anyone who has had their heart ripped out by a black hearted, evil person could relate to this song. I also read the letters, the one from Nightwish to Tarja and the one from Tarja to the fans. Again... man... that letter from Nightwish could have been written by me, with some added evil acts from my ex added in. And the letter from Tarja.. the poor innocent little lamb victim.... Again, with some added evil acts thrown in, that letter could have been written by my ex trying to divert the truth of her evil ways to garner sympathy and hide who she really is. Metal on Nightwish. Personally, I like a lot better Tarja's voice, but they are different. Tarja is NOT better singer than Anette, they just FUCKING SING DIFFERENTLY. So if you like better Anette's voice just go fucking listen Anette's Nightwish. If you don't, just don't. And about the "oh, Anette is better with the nightwish guys, Tarja was just a bitch with them" crap, it's just this: Tarja is a solo opera singer. She doesn't work well in a group, because she is a solo singer soul. Anette is better as a group singer, I just don't think she would be good in a solo career. Anyway, I don't know. I think Nightwish's style changed a LOT since Tarja was fired. Now, in Anette's era... it sounds, not like "fucking pop" like lots of people says, for me, it just sounds like gothic rock. No more nor less. (aaanyhow, I still like better Tarja. She was like Nightwish's grace. And for me, Nightwish is not the same without her. With respect :D, Parthenios. Agreed | Reviewer: Chibs | 5/17/09 I agree entirely with Allie. I love both the songs with Tarja and with Anette, but Tarja was fired for a reason. Tuomas was always depressed during the time that he knew he had to fire her. He had wished that it wouldn't have happened but he had to draw the line somewhere. Tarja was so stuck-up and conceited that she actually told him, "You know I can leave this band any time Tuomas." That's where it drew the line for him. And another point Allie made was that in End of an Era, if you haven't seen it/don't own it, you should go watch it again. The first time I watched it when my friend got it for me for my birthday last year, we both noticed that Tarja didn't want the guys to get any attention. She wanted all of the attention on her. And when she wasn't singing, she would just leave the stage entirely. However, when Anette isn't singing, she dances and points out the guys and dances WITH the guys..right in front of them, looking directly at them. In the video for The Islander, notice that the entire song, she sits in a little circle with the guys, where they are all calm and seem as though they are best friends gone camping. Tarja would have been out of that circle, singing off somewhere else away from them. Anette clearly loves the guys more than Tarja EVER did. Tarja had a great voice, but a terrible attitude. Anette has the same amazing sound, and her attitude is a million times better than Tarja's could have ever been. Just because you're not hearing Tarja's opera voice, it doesn't give you any right to shoot down Anette. She has a wonderful, unique voice all her own.
