The Reviews about Bye Bye Beautiful (page 1/ 17)
------ performed by Nightwish

Calm Down | Reviewer: Chrissiecat | 11/3/09

The song is beautiful in its own way
And stop hating on Annette. If it wasnt for her stepping up after Tarja, There would be no band yeah? and your prejudice against her would deprive the people who couldnt care less. Besides from what I understand, Tarja was being a bitch. You werent there so you have no right to say who is right. Maybe they were right to kick her out did you ever think of that?
BTW, to the guy who said Tarja's vocals are superior, The styles of voice are quite different. So dont compare them. Personally, sometimes Tarja puts me to sleep.

Let it go people! | Reviewer: Raven | 10/28/09

Seriously, I am really tired of people going on about what happened to Tarja. Let.It.Go! There is nothing you, or anyone else can do about it!

I don't even connect this song to Tarja anyway. It doesn't have to be about her if you think about it. It could be about anyone really. I love this song, and Annette does a great job singing, so stop flaming her!

Tarja gets owned in every way, except vocally | Reviewer: Anonymous | 10/22/09

Obviously this song is bashing Tarja, who apparently became a bitch so that's why they kicked her out. It's a good song if you ignore Annette's little popstargirl voice and just concentrate on the music. Tarja gets the last laugh, because her vocals are massively superior to Annette's.

Wimp metal personified | Reviewer: Dave | 10/10/09

This song is a just pathetic swipe at Tarja. It is as cowardly as the way they fired her in their open letter. They could not just talk about the issues face to face. They fired their first bass player, Sammi, without talking to him also. At least Sammi's firing was not public. There is a reason they call this wimp metal. And, it has nothing to do with female singers.

abvious | Reviewer: matt mudrock | 8/17/09

this song is written for their former vocalist tarja that they kicked out because her behavior changed.....abviously :) but tarja's voice was way much better than annette's and more powerful but still annette's voice is nice

Amazing | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/21/09

Very good song, interesting string arrangement for the intro and great lyrics. Annette has such a beautiful voice and Marco's vocals tie in perfectly. When I was introduced to Nightwish I instantly became addicted and fell in love with the music that belongs with the amazing lyrics.

To Be Frank..Frank | Reviewer: Mike | 7/10/09

Did you read the interview you just ...well pretty much told me to read? try reading it again bud...you proved my point. thanks for the input,I've been waiting for someones input.so convinced that I'm wrong.like I said read the interview again.here's an exerpt from it as well:TH: I don’t even think about it, to be honest. And I truly don’t care. Strong themes like those make me write songs, that way I can get rid of my bad feelings. That’s what made me a musician. There is no way in the world that I would just hold what I feel and avoid this kind of subject. And this is the result. If it offends someone, what a pity, but I had to do that. When you listen to these songs, when you read their lyrics… (pause) Maybe people will understand that they were not made to offend anybody. For example, Bye Bye Beautiful was made in really good terms, with sense. It’s a sad song, I’d say and it’s not about blaming someone, it only tells what I was feeling.( I copied and pasted this from what you added to this forum).

now i understand | Reviewer: Andrew Allan | 7/10/09

this song is actually a slap in the face style wakeup call! i really should have thought that this is what the lyrics mean! i feel like a dumbass. from now on, i'll be looking at these songs at a different angle.

Being informed is always better | Reviewer: Frank | 7/7/09

This is for Mike, exerpt from an interview Tuomas (writer of the song) did :

RHV: Well, a bit about the polemic side of the album. I even think that you’re already waiting for this question. Are you prepared to deal with some people, both media and fans, that will probably not understand lyrics like Bye Bye Beautiful and Master Passion Greed?

TH: I don’t even think about it, to be honest. It’s a sad song, I’d say and it’s not about blaming someone, it only tells what I was feeling.

RHV: Yes. If I understood correctly the meaning of Bye Bye Beautiful, I’d say that it’s much more about everything that the person lost when she couldn’t see what Nightwish was all about, what the band’s essence.

TH: Yes, exactly. And like the lyrics says: “you chose the long road, but we’ll waiting”, it’s a way to bring at least half of the guilt to myself. It’s not a mocking song, it was never my intention to mock people with it. No one of them, actually. It’s just about writing to feel free of those bad strong feelings I had at the moment, nothing else.

Not a break-up song | Reviewer: Mike | 6/28/09

This song is about how Nightwish wants its fans to pay more attention to what they're trying to get across to "US" , "the fans" , in their music. if all those of you who think its a break-up song would actually listen to the chorus and let it sink in ,you'd realize that "bye bye beautiful" is a reference to the band losing their ..."decorum" because of all the ways we the fans , and the world in general misinterprets the messages they're trying to get across. those who have even the slightest clue what they are saying in the greatest portion of their music realize it isn't about a bunch of "depressing teen-angst bullshit".most of the music is about 'trying to gain an understanding of issues they as a band find important to us as fans...and the world as a whole. As they say in the last line of the main chorus:"You chose the long road but we'll be waiting". ...so...you might not comprehend what they're talking about just now , and they may be getting pissed off about that ... but they're trying to be patient with you.
