I'm frustrated by hearing people say that Annette is horrible and it sounds too much like Within Temptation and Evanescense. Yeah, Tarja has an amazing voice, and at first I wasn't sure if I liked Annette's, but after really listening to the new songs and giving it a chance, I love Annette. I think she has a great voice, better than that of the Within Temptation and Evanescense singers. She has great range, and is able to control her voice. She shows this diversity in the Eva song, and in Amaranth she really shows she's amazing overall and has broken from her shell. But never forget that what truly sets Nightwish apart from other bands: the use of an orchestra, choir, and Tuomas' extravagent lyrics. Taking out Tarja isn't just totally sucking everything from what Nightwish uses to amaze us. Amaranth is a great song, I can't get enough of it! Once again, Nightwish takes a leap forward from the original start point and continues to impress this fan... Anette, despite her lovely voice, has alot to do to bring nightwish back up to the standard that Tarja set. Nightwish were so much different with operatic vocals from Tarja. Listening to Amaranth, Anette lacks the bombastic, aural overload that Tarja created with such ease! Eva was is an amazing song, Anette's voice did the song justice, so instead of completely judging the newer nightwish purely from "eva" and "amaranth", all i can say is...i hope the album is as amazing as their others. All bands change their styles a little....Nightwish seems more metal based now...but if you listen, it's the lyrics that make nightwish different, not the singer. i love Tuomas's lyrics....and for me, they make up the majority of what nightwish is about. yes i loved Tarja, but the beauty of nightwish lies in the complexity and originality of the lyrics. I can't imagine Tarja singing this song, either, it's not exactly an opera vibe like past Nightwish songs. Love the song, but the vocals didn't live up to my expectations. Annette is alright but she doesn't have the unique operatic voice that set Nightwish apart from Evanescence, Within Temptation and Lacuna Coil! The old songs with Tarja were the best music I have ever heard and while songs like "Amaranth" and "Eva" are alright, you can never beat a unique voice that sets itself apart from all others. I'm a huge Nightwish fan, so I still love 'em no matter who the lead singer is. Anette is really talented, I like her voice a lot, but it makes the sound of the band move more to that of bands such as After Forever or Within Temptation(later albums). Instrumentally, no comment ... Vocally, it's nice, but Tarja was a little better for the entire "feeling" of the band in my honest opinion. And I do think Amaranth is a really cool song. Tarja vs Anette | Reviewer: Laura | 7/28/07 Anette sounds really great as the new singer of Nightwish, but Tarja had a voice that is really hard to replace.They're both talented and have different voices, but hows Anette going to sing some of the songs that were written for Tarja to sing such as, Passion and the opera? I think both are fantastic vocalists but, Tarja is more suited for Nightwish, or maybe it will just take time to get used to Anette instead of Tarja...
