The Reviews about Tip Drill (page 1/ 2)
------ performed by Nelly

You must be an idiot | Reviewer: Moch | 10/14/09

If you are a woman and you do not see anything wrong with the video and the lyrics themselves then you must be the worlds biggest retard. How can anyone glorify a song where not only women are sexually objectified but are devoid of personality. When they say it must be your ass cause it aint your face that automatically robs you of both personality and dignity. I do not care if a woman is ugly, noone has a right to speak of a person as if they are less than human. Have you ever considered that some of those so called video 'hos'[sic] extremely sexist language have no other qualifications and have to break their back to feed their families because some men used them and abandoned them with a bunch of children. society is to blame because we have all bought into patriarchal ideologies proliferated by the media and we see no wrong in the objectification of women. Do not get me wrong I love hip-hop but i am very disappointed about the misogynistic lyrical and visual content of the songs. Consider this women are people too and not objects.

tip drill is so hot | Reviewer: romeo | 7/27/09

nelly is a bad boy that's why he make a song like this.
also I can say the girls who shaking their ass in the video know what they really wanna do in their life they ain't littles girls.
yo NELLY I like your song too much
and the girls when they show their ass I would have a fuck wit'em

Tip Drill | Reviewer: Nicole | 6/18/09

I think the song is demeaning all together. I think the women in the video should be held accountable for their own actions and not the artist or the person making the video. The women knew what the song was about before they were in the video. If not, it is their own fault that they were too lazy to read and listen to the lyrics before jumping on the set and shaking their asses. In other aspects, I think Nelly couldn't have possibly been raised to respect women. But this is a whole new america, and women have rights, and we can speak for ourselves and do what we want and make our own money........ basically what Im trying to say is there is no one to blame for these womens part in this video but theirselves....Im still not saying its okay for Nelly to make a song like this, but this is AMERICA!!!! (FREEDOM OF SPEECH)

Female rappers point of view and clarification | Reviewer: MrsBlackDyamond | 5/14/09

First off, Nelly had given us the definition of a tip drill. A tip drill is not an ugly faced girl with a big bootie!! What inspired these lyrics was Nelly at a strip club and he saw a stripper with a mask on. He couldn't see her face. He's basically saying I can't see what you look like, but I can see what that ass looks like, and that ass is whats causing me to throw tips(money). All pretty girls were in the video, so thats not what a tipdrill is. I am very lovely and my but is big and girls that don't posses these features love to hate and holler tipdrill.

These ladies are helping the men justify this unacceptable behavior by contributing to it. You won't see me in the video, because I'm not okay with it. These women are not illiterate, they know what they want. No one forced them to do it. This is hte way they want to be portrayed, for some of them it is a lifestyle. I am atrue feminists but I will not blame the guys on this account. Us women are not clueless, wehave our own minds. myspace.com/mrsblackdyamond aka "Queen of Compton"

Unbelievable | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/13/08

I see what all the fuss was about surrounding the Tip Drill video now. These lyrics are terrible. There is nothing creative about them, and they promote unsafe sex (the rubber might slip), women selling their bodies for men, and men treating women like commodities without any accountability. This is not okay--not the men treating women this way nor the women accepting that men should treat them this way.

Oh yeah and I'm a man, and I'm still saying this. There is nothing wrong with healthy sexuality--not even non-monogamous sexuality so long as it is all safe and consensual--but there is something wrong with men treating women like objects and women accepting objectification. I have hot sex with anyone I'm with--but I don't need to treat them like an object to get that action. And I wouldn't want to.

This song is disgusting. If it was the least bit creative, I might at least give it props for good songwriting--but the songwriting is terrible.

I don't understand why no one gets it. | Reviewer: V.S. | 1/29/08

It's interesting how most people that have put up a review blame the women in the video's for subjecting themselves, and being portrayed in this way. But we often forget who writes these songs, and who shoots the videos. The America we live in today might seem very forward thinking, but we often forget that civil rights only happened about 40 years ago which is not that long. Womens rights much the same have only been around for about what 30 years or so. But really folks how far have we come, when people like nelly, snoop, jada-kiss and others objectify women in their videos.
It's not that women get to choose to be shown in this light, it's that this society is a male dominated one. If you really wanna educate yourself to the sexism and homophobia in rap watch a movie called "Hip Hop Beyond Beats and Rhymes" then come on here and tell me you like the video.

Another thing, how can some of you be so hypocritical and say that you disagree with the lyrics but you love the video. Thats like saying i hate guns but i love watching someone get shot. How much sense does that make?

I really hope that someone takes the time to read what i had to say, because i spent the time reading all the other comments. If you are wondering who I am, well I am a White Russian Jew immigrant. And yes i am a male, and if that has any inflection on your opinion of what i said, i really hope someone out there takes something positive aways from what i said.

Please feel free to email me with any questions or comments, i have a ton more to talk about.

Fuckin Idiot | Reviewer: Dissin Princessa | 11/22/07

Princessa, I like your point about people ranting and raving about the girl tip drill and not the guy tip drill. This goes by unnoticed because people everywhere love money, and see no problem with an abundance of it. Even if they love the Lord Jesus Christ and his stupid followers.

PRINCESSA! You can operate a computer? You can navigate the internet? You LOVE this video and song? You are FUCK1NG RETARDED! Go back and learn to spell. Then people might be able to read and respect your opinion. Until then you are a waste of a life.

I love the video, and this shows us that there are women out there that will do anything for the fame and money associated with Rap. Fucking dumb b1tches have only themselves to blame. Guys will always love this, and it won't stop until the females stop it. Anti-Feminist Movement GBK, Get Back in the Kitchen.

dehumanizing | Reviewer: jasmine | 11/18/07

i'm a black female and the fact that these types of songs are marketed directly towards me is absolutely disgusting. when nelly wrote this song did he ever say " hmmm... what if someone had said these things to my mother, or sister or daughter..."
