Not even close!!! | Reviewer: Promise | 11/17/09
If you still have the nerve to even suggest that jay is remotely as good as nas i don't even wanna address you coz you aren't worth it we dont want fans commenting we want the truth and anyone who is pure, impartial, hip hop knows that nas may not sell as much as other artists but he is a waaaaaaaay better mc than jay and many others!!! the fact that he signed under him doesnt mean anything the song was made and it will forever be the song the single-handedly ended the beef, coz really after this gay - i mean jay - would have to get pac and big to write his response to even stand a chance. ps. Em is even better than jay he's crazy but he's better still!
absolute shit | Reviewer: ions2 | 8/27/09
who ever says nas keeps hip hop alive needs to understand what hip hop actually is, these days its become a music genre, what happened to writing and bboyin? and dont forget it was a DJ who started hip hop, not an mc.
but still (in my opinion) nas shits all over jayz in every aspect of rap, except commercial appeal (which isnt always a good thing anyway).
lil wayne can suck a dick, he hasnt done anything for rap music or hip hop culture, and i think the only reason everyone thinks the is "the godfather of hip hop" is because he appeals the the younger generation of listeners(10-13 y.o) who only like the music that is on the top 40 countdown, and he lil wayne has music commin out atm, so therefore he is on the countdown.
I respect both... | Reviewer: Its all good | 8/26/09
Nas killed it with Ether, I enjoy Jay-z's Takeover song, but his follow-up Supa Ugly was just not strong enough...still, Nas has joined Jay-z now, so to me that means that through the beef, they still respect each other, and Black Republicans is just a killer track with both of them.
Jay-Z is an extremely talented businessman, he knows who to ride with, what styles are good and what sells, he's done that his whole career. That makes him incredibly successful. Jay-Z is IMO, a genius at that, but Nas is more with the streets and good lyricism.
NAS IS KING | Reviewer: Cruize | 8/24/09
anybody who says Nas is shit and this song is crap then think again. These lyrics are pure genius, and any 'real' rap fan would see and appreciate this. most 'rap' fans love mainstream auto-tuned lil wayne and jay-z who rap about their money and shit.
yes jayz may have sold more records, appeared on stage and all that but that doesnt mean hes any better. Nas stayed low, he appeals to the real hip-hop fans. most mainstream fans dont want to hear the truth from the streets. please go ahead and compare ANY mainstream artists lyrics to Nas'. point proven.
NAS KILLS...NO DEBATE | Reviewer: Kadava | 8/6/09
Nas completely killed Gay-Z on this joint. Its actually like watching a roid head beat the sh*t out of a cripple. Jay CAN'T RAP!!! I don't get how people dont see this. His voice is nice aight but his flow, lyrics, and content are garbage. I've heard that Jay free styles most of his stuff...And it shows. And the fact that he runs a business or holds more papers than Nas don't mean nothing...I thought it was about the music. HERE are the best rappers of all time: 1. PAC 2. NAS 3. BIG 4. EM 5. RZA. And ya maybe Big would have made that number 2 spot but he just doesn't have enough material to compare to Nas and Pac was always better than him anyway. Peace.
Nas is the man | Reviewer: ramsas | 6/22/09
Nas is one of the greatest mceez. I agree with his words about jay z. Who killed hip hop? Such so called rappers as lil wayne, soulja boy and all dat fuckin weak dirty south and crank shit. One love 2 Nas, Krs one, Wu Tang and other real hip hoppaz! K.I.M.
Mr. Jones | Reviewer: Spliffdawg | 5/25/09
Jay Z is undoubtedly one of Hip Hop's Heavy Weights but lyrically he'll never be as great as Nas. Nas represents the people and tackles real-life issues in his music. And to the bitch that said Lil'Wayne is the greatest, please do us a favour and go buy a dildo so you can play with Wayne coz its obvious that both of yo'll are bitches.
Jay Z | Reviewer: Alex | 3/25/09
Whoever puts anyone above tupac nas jay z or Big is retarded all wayne raps about is sex and money. He even has a song called pussy money weed. hes a fake. Some idiot put quote "The four greatest rappers: Nas,Luda,Big,Pac..these are true lyricists" Why the fuck is ludacris in there he is just as bad as lil wayne except without The Girly voice.
the truth | Reviewer: danile | 3/4/09
ether is a classic and nas is a genius in his craft not taking anything away from j 90% of the song is true but who cares jay won the war in many eyes because of nas' willingness to sign with then jay z ran def jam but being about the same age as nas i feel that he sighed only because it was def jam it's like playing for the yankees if you grow up in nyc are the lakers if your from LA when it's said and done both will have cemented places in the top 5 spots #1 Jay-Z #2Nas&Scarface #3Biggie
Jay-z exposed | Reviewer: Tha Truth | 2/17/09
for all you nas haters, nas is already considered a rap legend, and will go down as one of the greatest rappers to ever live. now back to ether. First off, for all of you who don't know 90% of what was said in this song was based on actual facts. Ex. (KRS already made an album called Blueprint)the album was released in 1989 its called Ghetto Music: The Blueprint of Hip Hop,(Eminem murdered you on your own shit) many critics and fans alike all agreed that on the song Renegade eminem had the stronger verses and delivery, (Shawn Carter to Jay-Z, damn you on Jaz dick) nas is talking about jay-z former mentor Jaz-O, also you can see jay-z on Jaz-O earlier songs such as Hawaiian Sophie and Originators. this is where Jay-z got his stage name,(How much of Biggie's rhymes is gonna come out your fat lips? Wanted to be on every last one of my classics) First I must address the first statement by saying jay-z stole so much from B.I.G. its hard to say what jay-z wrote on his own. if you dont belive that just listen to cam ron's diss Swagger Jacker(camron doesn't rap on the song its all jay by the way. you can youtube it if you want to hear it. ,(And your man stabbed Un and made you take the blame) the stabbing did occur in a New York Club in 1999 you can be the judge as to what really happen.(You ass, went from Jaz to hanging with Kane, to Irv, to Big) Jay-z did affiliated himself with all these rapper when he still was relatively unknown. overall ether beats takeover and any other diss tracks for the rather because of the facts, word paly, delivery, so stop posting your fan club bullshit when you dont know hip-hip (Trials)
