My Chemical Romance saves lives | Reviewer: Terri | 9/13/09
My father and my brother died in the 9/11 attacks. I was seriously contemplating suicide until I heard this song. It made me cry so much, but it reminded me that I am not alone. Other people lost people during 9/11 and they know what it's like to lose loved ones to terrorism. Thank you, My Chemical Romance, for saving me from a horrible mistake.
Wow. | Reviewer: Mikey lover | 9/3/09
I'm writing a story right now, this song came on and the whole mood of the moment changed. In a good way, I wasn't born when 9/11 came, so I have no idea of what happened, all I know is a lot of buildings got bombed. I lost some people, I bet. But, this is a really good song. It wasn't the first My Chemical Romance song I heard, but I love it. MCR has inspired me to be myself, not what others want to see. So, yeah.
The best song that could hav started it all... | Reviewer: Julie | 3/27/09
I have fell in love with this song, gerard is so talented to think of this song. I was in pre k wen 9/ 11 happened n i remeba da day, i was worried bout mi dad who worked in manhatten near the towers. september 11 was a day that changed all the lives of america n it was a terrible tragity but look at all the things it lead too, including the beloved band my chemical romance. gerard inspired me so much n even though im young im gona get so far n ima do something in mi life, just like gerard. i thank god everyday for gerard...
Amazing. | Reviewer: Erin Bairstow | 1/18/09
If a band's first song can be as amazing as this, then you just know they're going to go on to bigger and better things. This is my very favourite song by My Chemical Romance, it inspired me to actually do something with my life, and with that truly awesome intro, also inspired me to learn to play the guitar. 9/11 affected us all, in some way. Whether we were old enough to understand or not. A lot of things changed after that day, some for better, some for worse. My Chemical Romance being one of the better things, going on to save people's lives, and make sure we know that there is always a reason to carry on, if Gerard could keep fighting the good fight after his grandmother died, and through all the depression, then so can the rest of the world. Long live MCR. <3
And to the person who called Gerard a sell out and a jerk, fuck you man! He is an inspiration to all of us, and whoever told you he was starting to use drugs again was probably just after some attention. Why would he start again after the time and effort it took to get off them in the first place?!
Sorry for the rant, people. I just get pissed off when someone bitches about one of my heroes.
All in all, an AMAZING song, truly.

uhhh... he was depressed because he was a drug addict and an alcholic. that's what Headfirst for Halos is about. He was working as an intern for DC or Marvel at the time the towers fell. That was what made him quit his intern ship and start MCR. Go read people, it makes your brain happy.

elena died after this was written so any depression in this song is down to 9/11, as well as gerard being a generally depressed person and any -medication- he may have been on then.
i love this song tbh.

Off of what the person below me said, yes. I agree. I can even agree with the whole third grade part because, apparently we are the same age. hah
(But a large cause of his depression was the death of his grandmother, dear) [:
I also see this song as a kind of...promise to their fans. "And if the world needs something better, let's give them one more reason."
They gave a reason to me.

ah beautiful. | Reviewer: Kat <3 Nate | 9/11/08
I love this song to death, it's my third-favorite behind Welcome To The Black Parade and Sleep. For the anniversary of 9/11 today, we watched a documentary in school, and it was truly traumatizing just to see the short abridged version of this horrible tragedy. I can't imagine how depressing this must have been for Gerard. I'm so glad he decided to write this song and start MCR. My life would be incomplete without it.

wow. | Reviewer: Kelsey | 8/11/08
i can't imagine what gerard went through. i was in 3rd grade when the twin towers fell, and it affected even me. so i can't fathom what it must have done to him. i'm thinking that maybe 9/11 could've have traumatized him and possibly led him to the horrible depression he was in. it makes my heart sink to think about how much pain he was going through. but even though 9/11 is one of the most horrific things to have happened to America, i believe there was a purpose to it. for instance, gerard probably wouldn't have ever woken up and realized he needed to do something extraordinary with his life. and what would've happened if he had never started the band, and then became deeply depressed? he would've for sure been dead, and never been able to share his amazing gift of music with the world, and save so many other lives. so even though 9/11 was a horrible tragedy for so many people, it's amazing to me how something so beautiful and life changing could come out of it. thank you, gerard. know that you're loved and appreciated. -kw.
