My Chem do not influence kids to commit suicide or to think suicide is acceptable, they are actually an anti-suicide band. The reason they appeal to many people who are depressed or suicidal is because they understand what it's like to have been there, they let their fans know it's okay to be messed up, but that doesn't mean they condone hurting yourself. Gerard Way repeatedly tell fans that if they are depressed they need to talk to some one. “If you guys have been listening to this band and coming to see us for a long time, you know we've always said to you guys that if you get depressed, that you can find somebody to talk to… If you ever feel depressed or hurt in any way, or you find yourself feeling very desperate, you find somebody that you trust, that you can talk to-- be it a teacher, a parent, a best friend, a therapist at school.” - Gerard Way. The song 'Welcome To The Black Parade' is about Gerard personal opinion of the death/the afterlife. He believe that the afterlife comes to us in the form of our fondest memory and this is translated into the song. The patient has died, and his death has come to him in the form of a marching band as his fondest memory was his father taking him to watch a marching band. Gerard has never tried to convince us that this is what really happens after death, I personally don't believe it, but that is what the song is about. In retospect I think the song is very positive with lyrics like, "We'll carry on," "Go on and try, you'll never break me." I don't see My Chem as an ungodly band, many of my christian friends love them very much. To Worried Parent, you don't have to be worried about this band. As shown before they are very against hurting yourself despite what the media say. Many of the younger kids who love My Chem make Gerard their idol and although I can see why a parent would be worried look at My Chem's image, you don't have to be. Gerard Way, is against suicide and violence, he does not drink or do drugs and he spends his time drawing and reading comic books instead of living the 'rockstar lifestyle.' I seriously doubt he'll have a that bad influence over your son. Whooa that was long. Rant over. As for the review of this song, it amazing, an anthem for My Chem fans worldwide.
