To me this song holds two meanings:
#1- the blatent and visual accpect of a man protecting someone he loves from a pride of Vampires, and amazingly enough it makes just as much sence in this form as it dose in the deeper meaning, thats not very commen in modern rock, the medafores get lost in eachother and the suface meaning is muddled and the deeper meaning is just to deep, but My Chemical Romance is good for both plain meanings and the deeper side of the issue, which makes it easy for us B adverage students to listen to with out insulting our intelegence.
#2- I believe the deeper meaning is that the band it's self is saveing us from the fake and money loveing musical proformers that have come up in todays society or "vampires". And yes, they are saveing us from the lip sinkers and the computer generated money loveing leaches that are trying to rot our brains into black abyss.

As a musical and lyrisist myself, My Chemical Romance has been so much insperation to reach for bigger and better meanings and medaphors, theres no one i look up to more then that band, Gerard Way is my idol, all around personaly artisticly musicaly and vocaly, and plus hes not half bad to look at, stare at.

This is just a perfect song to help break the shell, I'm scared that our rock gods are treding on thin sell out ice, much like or old lovelys Fall Out Boy who... unfortunately sold out, I hope they dont fallow down that dark path, I pray that we have them forever.

With Love For Hate

Vampires Will Never Hurt You | Reviewer: Aleks | 4/1/08

I’m not a huge fan of My Chemical Romance, in fact, I don’t particularly like them at all, I do like some of there songs though, such as this one. One thing I don’t understand is how people can claim to be so in love with them and not even be sure what their songs are about, but only know that they conjure dark images. However, they are ready to crucify anyone that doesn’t share this opinion. They must be brainwashing you guys or something. I joke, I joke.
Anyway, I think Vampires Will Never Hurt You is metaphorical obviously, and about how society/drugs/alcohol etc. or the ’vampires’ in the song are ‘pumping venom’ into him and sucking the life out of him much like vampires do and he is struggling to find an escape from this as ‘someone burned the church’ and he continues to ‘hang out with corpses’ or people much like him who are continuing to rot under the hold the aforementioned has on them.
The stake to his heart means he is willing to make the ultimate sacrifice to escape this life before the ‘sun goes down’ and he is unable to escape and will be stuck like this for an eternity. He doesn’t want this to happen to the person he is talking to in the song, so not only is he fighting for himself, he is fighting for someone else as he does not want them to go through what he did.
Well, that was nice and long. =]

amazing | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/28/08

this song is so inspirational, like all mcr songs.

oh, and, according to Wikipedia the meaning is:

The meaning of the song's lyrics was explained by the band as a metaphoric critique to the society. The "vampires" represent the greedy and ambitious human beings. In the concept story, though, this song is the part where vampires take over the town that the two main characters live in. Gerard has said that he used vampires as a metaphor for people who want to use others for their own gain. He went on to say that there is always something about the living dead which will make people clinically depressed.

Great song..but what do you think it's really about? | Reviewer: Raine | 1/16/08

I've been wondering this for a lot of their songs..what was this song written about, in all honesty?

It reminds me, a bit, of From Dusk 'Til Dawn..but that's probably just me. The first one, that is. Only parts of it though. It could possibly be symbolism for society and those on the outer ridges of society who fight it off to keep their individuality also. These are just ideas I've been throwing around though.

Just wondering if anyone else had any ideas. Please feel free to share them with me.

ACTUAL vampires hold a special place in my heart, so just the title alone has its own little special meaning to me.

And the whispering parts are, indeed, incorrect in this. It's too fast for me to catch and coherently write down though, so I can't blame the submitter for such an small error. Atleast they tried, and for that I'm sure we all thank them. ^_^

MCR XD | Reviewer: Alex | 11/30/07

Dude, I seriously LOVE MCR. Their lyrics, don't get me started, haha. And their music, and the affect it has on people. Whenever I listen to Cemetery Drive, I get chills down my spine when you can faintly make out the backround singing of "don't do it" it's wonderful.

The band has helped me sooo much. Yeah, I still get depressed, but now whenever I listen to their music, it's like medicine. Helena gets to me the most.

And this song is just wicked. Wicked, awesome, cool, no words can describe ANY of their music.

Thanks MCR :P
