Sheesh People.. | Reviewer: Laura | 11/6/09
Okay, so I'm a Christian. But you know what? I like My Chemical Romance. I like lots of music that's labeled dark and stuff like that. And it doesn't make me suicidal or depressed or anything. Actually, Gerard's voice makes me happy lol.. Its just what I like. The music you listen to does not condemn your soul to a fiery tormnent for eternity. Its just another way to get your feelings out.
And I mean, really, do we have to try to hurt one another just to get our opinions out? People don't like to have religion shoved down their throats with a stick. Instead of saying that people who listen to non-Christian music are wrong, why don't we listen to their side of the story first? And that goes for the ones who aren't Christians posting on here too. Why not try to just think about the actual people who are posting that stuff. Feel sorry for each other if you have to, but come on, we're all still people no matter what we believe, aren't we?
Well now that I've got that out, I'm going to review the song lol: It Rocks. XD!
Happy Landings Always!
Welcome to the black parade forever | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/2/09
Welcome to the black parade is an amazing song that is so so so inspirational. "Do or die, you'll never make me, because the world will never take my heart, go and try, you'll never break me, we want it all, we wanna play this part." How can someone find that negative. Anyone can listen to this song. Kids, teens, adults, seniors. this song is an eye opener. and to be honest, it changed my life.
You guys are so Funny | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/27/09
I have always tried to stay away from these bands mainly due to the fact that i thought that it was all middle class kids whining about not fitting in at school (which most of it is, i mainly like my grunge and punk music, not a huge emo fan as i get fed up with playing with so many of them on the circuit, plugging in there hair straighteners b4 tuning their guitars) but having heard this song, while not the most invoking and not a particularly unique subject matter i was pleasantly surprised with it.
To the "worried parent" i wouldn't worry too much about any influence on your kid, if you look past the "dark" words, the song is basically saying not to change or let things get you down, keep true to yourself.

Emo is crap, according to Gerard Way. The Black Parade album has some of the best post-9/11 music. He said he formed the band because of inspiration of the intense emotion and tragedy of 9/11. Along with the American Idiot CD, of course. I think those two albums represent the inner feelings of most Americans during this decade.
Defiant to the End | Reviewer: Shiny | 4/21/09
To those concerned about this song and this band... I offer just a snatch of the above song:
A world that sends you reeling from decimated dreams
Your misery and hate will kill us all.
So paint it black and take it back
Let's shout it loud and clear
Defiant to the end we hear the call
To carry on
We'll carry on
Let me analyze by rephrasing... He is speaking of how hard the real world is - it takes your dreams and just stomps on them. Then you mix in all the hatred and pain that most people react with, and it makes the world even more bleak with everything from workplace shootings to war, genocide, terrorism and threats of nuclear attacks.
He advises painting all this black, which has a couple meanings to me; First, it could be a reference to the Goth culture and other similar sub/counter-cultures who wear black as an acknowledgment of mortality and hardship, but believe in enjoying life anyway. Second, when you cut an unhealthy branch off a tree to save the overall plant, you paint it black so that it doesn't grow back.
Take it Back - TAKE BACK YOUR DREAMS. The world is a crappy place, but don't let that stop you! Take back your life, take back your dreams! Grab onto them with such gusto that you shout it to the rest of the world! Maybe somebody else will hear you and realize they too can muster up the strength to carry on through the hardships and pain and reclaim their dreams!
Maybe a Bunch of somebodies will hear the message and stand beside you shouting it to all the world. And with all that noise as you move through the world - wouldn't that be a Black Parade?
[Shiny is another over-35 adult working for a fortune 500 company yet proudly sports a 'Black Parade' sticker on his car. He is not a die-hard fan of MCR, but The Black Parade is on his list of CDs to be stranded on a desert island with.
He hopes his insight will give voice to the kids and ease the fears of knee-jerk parents who believe everything the media tells them.
And Yes, EMO 'sucks' in that it only laments about how life is unfair. Shiny has just proved MCR takes that response and turns it on its ear and encourages people to accept that while life is unfair and tragic, it is for the Living and to truly Live is to pursue your dreams.]

I'm so non conformist and dark but someone once called MCR Emo so I can't like them. How lame is that?
This is a great song about his fathers funeral and the realization that he will not be able to live up to his fathers unreasonable expectations.
For the Christians they can learn whats really important to pass on to their children. Perhaps instead of blaming bands like MCR for their kids issues they will look at the environment they created. Probably not as that would be taking responsibility for their actions.
very good | Reviewer: sihiding | 2/20/09
A few months back would have completely agreed with the few that this band is 'emo' and very influencing in that respect but after unfortunate circumstances I looked into the band a bit more.
I don't usually like this kind of music, it's very very different.
I must say that all the songs I've heard so far by MCR are very interesting and full of feeling.
The black parade is obviously a funeral...
I think the 'father' was possibly depressed and he hopes his son wouldn't be the same "will you fight your demons"
And its very hopeful, he'll keep fighting "we wanna play this part"
And he shows it's ok to be the ordinary one, with 'scars' of pain.
When you read the lyrics a few times over, you see its a very good song.
"We'll carry on, although you're dead and gone"
regarding "anonymous" in the 1/27/09 "ungodly. no" | Reviewer: rebecca | 2/18/09
I really enjoyed what you had to so. So much so, I read it outloud to my husband and am putting it on my myspace..not all of it, but the part about religion controlling one's views/actions. if you have a blog or any other viewpoints anywhere online, I would love to read them. sendmewords@yahoo.com.
Ungodly? Hardly. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/27/09
Listen, I want to get one thing quite clear: I am a Christian. But hear this: Bieng Christian doesn't give you an excuse to walk over anyone you want and denounce things as "ungodly" without first trying to see the other sides point of view. I don't let religion dominate my way of thinking. Doing that gets a lot of people killed. You think that terrorists do what they do for the heck of it? No, they do it for religion. And do you know what? They believe in their religion as strongly as you believe in yours. The fact of the matter is, bieng Christian doesn't always make you right. Don't try to force your religion down someones' throat. They are not trying to personally offend you by not bieng Christian. This is a good song, and not a bad message. You don't have to believe the message, but it's not there to denounce a diety or provoke suicide. Just think a bit about how the other person feels before denouncing something they really enjoy as "heresy" or "ungodly."
Pretty cool song, no? | Reviewer: Aiden Summers | 1/28/09
I could listen to this on a loop forever. Even though some would look at the lyrics and scream 'OMG, DEPRESSION ALERT, NEED HALP NAO!' I believe the part that stands out the most is the 'We'll carry on' sections. Kinda gives you a bit of a boost, encouraging you to keep going.
Unfortunately, most people consider MCR an 'emo' band, due to their looks and the way the lyrics could be interpreted. And if you listen to MCR, you get labelled as an 'emo' - I know, my friends are so... disheartening. In spite of that, I disbelieve that it makes me suicidal or that this music is a bad influence on me.
It all depends on the way you take it, in my opinion - some might see this song as ungodly, and others might see it as encouraging. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, and as long as there isn't any bashing going on... well, then we should just relax and enjoy life.
