It almost makes me cry to think that Gerard had all these nightmares-it's truly beautiful! It's basically about how Gerard had nightmares of all the people he loved dying and him dieing alone. And I think the voice recordings are ones he made durning the night when he couldn't sleep and he kept waking up from the nightmares. The last one makes me think that this is how Gerard felt when he was awake as well, like he was losing everyone he cared about and was going to die alone. I also think he's kind of singing it to all those people too. Another theory, which is the theory I had when I first heard this song was that it was written for his brother, Mikey Way who suffered from depression during the creating of the black parade and would sneak into Gerard's room at night and sleep on the floor. Either way, it's a beautiful song. The 1 thing I wanna know is who is doing the voice clips at the beginning and just before the bridge ("just sleep), and at the end. I have an idea what they mean though. I think they are "The Patient"'s part of a phone call to someone (his girlfriend, mom, etc.) I also find it very creepy when I'm listening to this song late @ night and those clips play...the most disturbing one to me is the last one (And I can't, I can't ever wake up.) I DO wake up...from nightmares!!!! It's weird cause I can handle that bit fine during the day but I'm seriously scared by it right before I go to bed...isn't that weird?
