Amazing... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/25/09
This is, in my opinion, one of Muse best songs, as Matthew Bellamy's vocal ability is really shown in this song. Dont get me wrong, they are shown in most other songs, but particularly this song. Muse are one of the greatest rock bands out there today.
Beautiful, regardless of the meaning | Reviewer: Adytza | 4/19/09
To me, the lyrics are first about a ruined relationship that he tries to forget. And his only escape is his (probably guitar) plug in baby, his weapon for crucifying his enemies, the one that can get him into virgin, pure realities. He may be tired of giving (as happens with every artist) and he may be tired of having to escape into the alternative reality of music. just the way i see it. the beauty of muse songs really is that you can understand whatever you want. the artist simply guides your train of thought

This song like most of their other songs relate to Operation Monarch or similar...time to wake up.
excerpts...
2. BETA -This is a combination of Alpha ; "logic" programming and Beta primordial (primitive mind) sex programming. This programming eliminates learned moral convictions and stimulates the primitive sexual instincts devoid of inhibitions. This training Program (usually for women) is for developing the "ultimate prostitute"...a sex machine. This is the most used (by the abusers knowledgeable of the Project Monarch) program. Children of knowledgeable persons are being preconditioned through incest and "sold" into the conspiracy for additional Beta conditioning to eventually satisfy the bizarre perversions of politicians, bankers, drug lords, or anyone deemed valuable to the conspiracy.
3. DELTA - This program was originally designed to train special agents and espionage agents' minds for becoming fearless terrorists devoid of fear and basic self preservation instincts capable of incredible feats of physical endurance and murder. The new revised edition of Delta has pulled from the Delta program information on training the new breed of man - one who kills and, if caught, self-destructs. This program is now applied to some Beta prostitutes who double as drug mules...to protect the identity of their owners if they are caught, they die -of "natural causes."
meaning | Reviewer: Dario | 11/18/08
To me this song is about getting over a person who has broken your heart or decieved you, and forgetting them, or moving on. His 'plug in baby' is possibly how he forgets about it, or avoids it.
"I've exposed your lies, baby
The underneath's no big surprise
And now it's time
For changing
And cleansing everything
To forget your love"
But thats the great thing about Muse songs, they can be interpreted in many different ways. The guitar rifts in this are amazing.
Sweet song... | Reviewer: Seremoth | 11/16/08
I' ll focus on the refrain because it defines the general meaning of the song. I thing the most obvious explanation of the song for the plug in thing, is a state of mind, in which you may not be completely your normal self or in which you are your real self, or even both.
This fits perfectly with the guitar love interpretation to whoever understands what i am talking about.
When you are asked for the meaning of lyrics of one of your songs, in my point on view, its somewhat disturbing for the creator. In this case a puppy explanation for their meaning is the fitting answer ;)
The song most of the times loses its "magic". Why? Because everyone who heard that song, relate it with various different situations that deeply concern them and their emotions.
Most songs are like poems. Many poems have high value because they can be interpreted in different ways. It doesn't matter if you don't think the same way as the creator, or if you gave it a different meaning.

At first i didn't actually like this song all that much but after going for their gig in Melbourne, this particular song really made me sing my lungs out when Muse played it! Hats off to one of the best rock bands on the planet!!!

Never really thought much of Muse till I caught a live concert, hands down the best I’ve ever been to!!! I guess that’s what real talent sounds like, Matt is a guitar wizard and his vocals are amazing…Top band of the decade!!!

Couldn't this song be about looking at internet porn? Obviously he's out of a relationship and is in "unbroken virgin realities". His computer is his plug-in baby? Just a thought.

The meaning of this song is unknown, but some have suggested that it could also be about his love for the electric guitar, and how he only has to plug it in and play, for all his critics to be proven wrong ('crucifies my enemies'). Bizarrely, it could be about genetically engineering puppies to remain young and live forever, as Matt Bellamy has stated jovially in a magazine interview.

OK, this si one of the best muse songs, it's the song that got me interested in them, it's absolutely fantastic. From Matt's amazing vocals to Chris' lightning fast fingers on the bassline. This song will impress any music lover (yes even Busted and Peter Andre fans too!)
