Thanks a lot for this interesting information. I really didn't know all this story about the House Of Rising Sun and that it is so old...Wow, thanks again.
Without any doubts, Muse is fantastic. I loooooooove their music. It's so intriguing, so puzzling, impressive. Just outstanding and original! And great lyrics with serious messages. In short, they are gorgeous :)
Information Clarification | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/22/09
I'll start it off by saying Muse is an amazing band, and extremely difficult to match in musical talent, and in masterful symbolism. Muse has also done multiple song remakes though, including House of the Rising Sun, and this song - Feeling Good.
Feeling Good was originally written in 1965 for the musical The Roar of the Greasepaint - The Smell of the Crowd, I won't go into too much detail though since somebody already posted that part.
Another piece of information somebody posted was that in the movie "La Femme Nikita" which was released in 1990, contained the, as somebody said "Muse song 'Feeling Good' at the end of it". The problem with that statement, is that Muse wasn't even a sponsored band then. They had no method of getting their songs out into the world at the time. What you have to remember is that the song was originally written back in 1965 and since then had been covered by numerous other bands.
Please don't get me wrong, I love Muse. I'm not hating on them or any of you fellow Muse fans including anybody I criticized, I'm just helping everybody out with some background knowledge.
Now since I'm on the topic of Muse song remakes and I'm bored and have nothing to do, I think I'll also cover "House of the Rising Sun".
"House of the Rising Sun" if you ask most people was originally released by The Animals. Although the most famous version of the song was by them it was done many times before them. In fact, the song dates back to approximately 1820 and is an American folk song which is commonly sung around the southern states, primarily Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee. Nowadays the song is generally sung by a male, although the song was originally intended for a female, despite what the lyrics might suggest. The song is thought to be about a prostitution, drug house in good old New Orleans. The song is also believed to be true due to records suggesting that there was a building in New Orleans called The House of the Rising Sun which was active about the time the song is thought to be originally conspired. Even though The House of the Rising Sun collapsed long before the 1900s or even before 1850 it is known for sure that prostitution was very active in the building. This is confirmed by archaeologists whom have recovered multiple different artifacts that would prove that the building was a center of prostitution.
Well now you guys know all about Muse's remakes of House of the Rising Sun" and "Feeling Good". Since you guys probably all think I'm a pain in the ass now I'll shut up. Thanks for anybody who actually read all of this!
Very Nice | Reviewer: Joe | 7/5/09
I am completely obsessed with these guys. Excellent cover, and may I say that no other band around has this type of depth and feel in their tunes with this level of composition. Very hard for us to relate musically if you cannot at least admit that these guys are one of a kind. Hail Muse!!!!!
not about the meaning... | Reviewer: Libby | 3/12/09
I absolutely adore muse. 1/5 of my ipod is devoted to them. I've been sort of numbed to their splendor, but then i listen to other songs and nothing is as diverse and wonderful stylistically, conceptually, or thematically. Comparatively everything else seems cliché.

Muse are the best band to ever think about thinking about making any kind of music that was ever created. If you are human u will realise that any song that muse have ever done is better than anything else your ears have ever heard. Me and li-ham upton seem to be the only people who see it this way so if u dont like muse then may god smite you. :D p.s. Matt Bellamy ur my god

Ok let me clear this up, this is NOT Muse's song, it was writen by Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse for the 1965 musical "The Roar of the Greasepaint—the Smell of the Crowd."
It has been covered by several artists however, including Muse.
i hate to break it to you, people | Reviewer: rk | 11/4/08
this song is all about irony, it's definitely not about feeling awesome, you should watch the music video, then you'll understand. i like the movie reference, i should go watch it. the irony, the tone, the tempo, the instrumentals. this is sarcasm people, it's actually insanely depressing
la femme nikita | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/7/08
if you want to know what this song is about then watch the 1990 film la femme nikita it is a realy good film it keeps you on the edge of the sofa the whole way through and has the
Muse song "feeling good" in it at the end.
new life | Reviewer: laura | 1/29/08
This song is one of my favorite Muse songs ever. It makes me feel so happy and joyful, and rejuvenated, yet and so sad that it brings tears to my eyes. I can listen to it over and over and over... It always reminds me of my 1 breakup coming out of my long bad relationship and starting a whole new life: free, new, alone and scared- yet still having the feeling of being lied to by this new awakening and awesome feeling.
