awesomeness! | Reviewer: r.o. | 11/16/08

who knew i could learn so much about history by reading commentary? because honestly, all that
plagues commentary these days is rude and vulgar language and just plain stupidity. a lot of pointless cyber-dissing, too. anyways, i love muse. talented, hot gods. amazing. rock on. good song. peace =)

Demonocracy | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/31/08

"Destroy Demonocracy"
- since this song is about a war between those in power and whose under power, it is relevant to see that the word demonocracy is extremely similar to the word democracy, as Furby said previously about doing something about the democracy in which we live in. The combination of the words demon and democracy paints an evil taint on the word democracy, lyrical genius by Muse.

For some reason i find that this song reminds me so much about the Situation in Zimbabwe. Zimbabweans should do as Muse say, and destroy the Mugabe demonocracy.

Interpretations. | Reviewer: candichan | 2/26/08

I see the muslim side too. But only after reading this. =P
But also, I see major significance behind Furby's statement.
Most of Muse's songs do follow the same theme of fighting for humanity and the destruction of evil. Equilibrium is such a fantastic way of putting it. XD

But all in all, it's far too easy to simply enjoy the music, without the need to argue over the meaning of the lyrics. Every single person will have their own personal interpretation in accordance to their own experiences and judgements.
See it as you wish. =)

AWESOME SONG!! =D

Assassin | Reviewer: Ron | 11/6/07

Furby is right on the money. Just do a little research on Matthew Bellamy and you will see. Go to the links section on Muse's official site and scroll down to "Red Pill", check out the links and get informed.

assassin | Reviewer: Jedyknight | 10/22/07

Assassins are born from rebellions turned heretical. Example of this idea would be Castro & Guevara against the former Cuban dictatorship. Castro's initial infiltration and assassination attempt through the palace failed, in which he retreated to the mountains and recruited local villagers therefore making more assassins. It is quiet simple, in the metaphor I can think of now: trap an injured animal (we are all nature's animals) and you will unleash a true frenzy from within the deepest nature of that animal. That frenzy within an injured and cornered group or society is embodied and/or creates assassins.

Just because it says "war" in it doesn't mean it's about the war! | Reviewer: Furby | 10/9/07

This song is about the "war" between our evil government, the people in control of our lives, etc; and the people who can see everything crumbling down around us. The war is overdue, WAY overdue, and we need to start fighting against these power-hungry idiots. It's time for us to "join forces underground" or join together to fight for our own humanity, for our freedom.
For us (the people who can actually see what's going on and give a shit), this "demonocracy" we are living in makes us want to do something about it (losing control) because not only are we astonished at what the powerful are doing to us but we are angered at the people who can't open their damn eyes and see what exactly is going on. We want to change it, "erase whatever they say" and "assassinate" their rules and power.
You must "oppose and disagree" with whatever they tell you and "destroy demonocracy" to live in a free world.

This IS what this song is about. And you're right anonymous - it really does reflect Equilibrium.

Im surprised more people can't see the meaning behind this. Almost all Muse songs are about standing up for humanity and destroying the evil. "How can we win, when fools can be kings. Don't waste your time or time will waste you."

Actually... | Reviewer: Anxyous | 9/19/07

Actually, I reckon that the Muslim POV is correct, however I think it dates back much earlier...

In 1191, during the Third Crusade, there was a Shia-muslimist (sp?) sect known as Hashashins.

Their 'job' was basically to wipe out leaders of the Christian forces, although some believe, also the leaders of Muslim forces.

They were so feared that the word 'assassin' was adapted into the English language, and truly, assassins were born back then.

A song about Moslems? | Reviewer: bugaboo@bg.net | 9/6/07

Ridiculous! This seems a tale of the mindless followers of any religion and how the religious are dangerously inculcating their religious mores into politics. Given the simplistic structure of such a Manichean mindset as to be found in most orthodox believers of any given faith, it more often than not leads to violence which is the very reason modern democracies eschew constitutional religious references.

Lyrics intepretation | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/17/07

I try to interpret the lyrics from moslem point of view. Like the war in some middle east countries, there are suicide bombers and so on. I think this lyrics is talking about it...

"Whatever they say // These people are torn // Wild and bereft // Assassin is born"

Whatever people say, the moslems are torn by demonic democracy. So the moslems becoming wild and bereft, and so the assasin is born everyday, like the suicide bombers.

This thoughts came after i read about ASSASSIN in Wikipedia.

Way to go Muse! | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/6/07

This song is so violent. It makes me want to rip someone's heart out or something. I love that :D
