I don't care what Nikki Sixx was thinking when he wrote it and I don't care if it was/is Satanic.

I liked the song when the album came out and it is still worth a listen every now and then. It's in my iPod.

I do remember my mother (God rest her soul) throwing Tipper Gore style fits over this album and taking it away. Then she took my second one away. Kinda gave up when the third one showed up. Sorry, mom.

to the guy below saying this isn't satanic, and that "Nikki himself said it isn't" is wrong- during this time, Nikki WAS into satanism, literally. He turned his house into a satanworship temple, and this song was originally called, "Shout with the devil". He denied the satanism because it was causing so much controversy and he had to, but he's since admitted it actually WAS satanic initially. Maybe not literally, but nikki was into the occult and he only agreed to change the name when "weird stuff started happening".

For *Christ's* Sake... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/20/10

This song is about shouting AT the Devil!
At war, at your parents, or at anyone who's holding you back.
Even Nikki Sixx himself said that it's not satanic!
Motley have always liked to shock people and parents were obviously stupid back in the day to see the pentagrams and their outfits and draw up a conclusion without listening to the album.
SATD doesn't have any 'satanic' songs.
Even 'In The Beginning' isn't satanic if you actually listen instead of trying to be macho and thinking with your balls!

shout at the devil flick | Reviewer: zod042@yahoo.com | 4/5/10

i always thought it was about that old Lee Marvin movie (ive not seen it, in fact i thought it was either an old boris karloff or vinnie price, but it sounds like it could be, i mean its pretty close in premise from what ive read)

Whitewashing the Black | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/27/10

To the whitewashers:
Why do we go on with people whitewashing these songs? Just put together the previous song "In the Beginning" with this song then add all the Satanic imagery from the cover art and then grow some balls and admit that it's Satanic. If you can't grow the balls then listen to something else. Stop trying to pretend this is "anti-Satanic" so you can feel better about liking the song.

The song title is Shout At The Devil not with the devil | Reviewer: Renee Brown | 1/1/10

I have listened to this song since it came out in the eithies and for most of us who pay attention to the lyrics they are shout at the devil not with the devil. If parents complain that it sounds satanistic tell them to listen carefully and then get the words for them. It is plain as day. Now mind you I did eventually have to get the cassette so I could learn the words exactly as they go and it was even more obvious then before what it is about. If parents still want to argue put on Slayer South of Heaven or Crooked Cross. Nobody can argue those.

actually not a non-christian song | Reviewer: huntr04aerosmith | 11/1/09

i always thought this song was a little iffy on the side of devilish music, about the devil and worship and stuff, but actually its about hating the devil and wanting him to just go away. pretty good riff 2.

i just had heard of motley crue this year (i wasnt born in the 80s) and since then they have become one of my favorite bands. even though they are old they can still rock hard. This song is one of my favorites by them.

Good Song | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/13/08

This is was ands always will be a good song in my opinion. I listen to music constantly and all sorts of music at that and this song has really caught my attention. And the lyrics are almost completely correct about this song, but there are a few mistakes i just can't point them out yet. Still these lyrics are almost completely correct.

And, behold I come quickly and my reward is with me to give every man according as his work shall be, I am Alpha and Omega, the begining and the end, the first and the last. Blessed are they which do his commandments that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates of the city.
For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers and idolators, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
