The Reviews about I Have Forgiven Jesus (page 2/ 4)
------ performed by Morrissey

Jesus is loyal | Reviewer: Ivan | 12/8/07

This lyric is about more than gay issues. It is also the frustration of not being able to do all what God has put into our hearts, whatever it is.

And as for gay issues. Being gay is a sin and is against nature. If you want to live it in that gay, then OK but do not try to turn being gay into OK for all humanity and OK under God's eyes. Dont use your own thoughts but rather get to know God's wisdom. And you get only in one place: The bible

Amazing | Reviewer: In Die | 12/4/07

It is a beautiful song.
I didn't even catch the veiled references of a need for acceptance.
But after reading it, I do realize it.
And it is foolish to say he is/ has not sung about homosexuality, it is a recurring theme.
Being gay myself I know what it feels like.... and I love Moz for expressing things in a way I could never.

Morrissey | Reviewer: colin | 11/30/07

I find it sad and suprising people even question if its about been gay, im a straight man, but i dont get why been gay is an issue anyway ,what a person does in bed is their own affair, t h is song is about the struggle of acceptance of the world and life, its about been natrually sad and seeing the beauty in it, its about feeling out place where ever you go,and anyone who knows morrisseys music as long as i have knows its also a bit tongue in cheek.

Good song | Reviewer: carl | 11/28/07

God and jesus anloy exist in the human's minds, being gay is absolutely normal, secuality is kind complicated, but this is our nature, the man is sexual and spiritual, this is our nature

we are the future... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/14/07

This is just a beautiful song...
Even though the song may not be about Morrissey's sexuality, the comments people placed here made me feel discusted. I cannot belive that in the 21th century there's still people who thinks that a gay person shoud ask god's forgivness for the way he/she is. I mean, all this christians who belive they're such good persons for just following a book don't realize that they will be more beautifuls souls by just feeling some empathy? The things I hear and read from this people really makes me wonder where the humanity is going...

another take | Reviewer: cea pea | 11/10/07

To me this is one of Morrissey's most beautiful works. It's a modern lamentation and a wonderfully phrased one.
The words of someone on the outside who spends their life trying to connect.

Hamish | Reviewer: zach | 10/23/07

finding the Bible to be corrupt based on something that is inconclusive (gays being born that way) is not valid. Something else incredibly invalid is using the Catholic church to define Christ followers, as we should apply the Bible to our lives, not the un-Biblical doctrine fed to us by organizations such as the Catholic church.

About the song, Moz is placing the blame on the wrong person. Should he not be a little more introspective and perhaps find faults within himself rather than blaming God for his problems? Problems exists because of sin, and sin is a product of Man, God did not create it.

NOT ABOUT BEING GAY | Reviewer: David Potts | 10/5/07

This song is definitely not about being gay, Morrissey has in the passed neither denied or admitted which side of the sexual fence he is on, if you look and decipher the lyrical content there is no reference to hetero or homosexual preference. Morrissey is simply asking jesus why he gave Morrissey feelings of love and equivocal desire when he hasn't found anyone male or female to share them with. I have been a devout Moz fan for many years, I have always found his lyrical expressionism both saddening and on occasions humouress. I can relate to many of his feelings of loneliness and depression as many of you will too. Moz is often viewed by many as a miserableist due to his outlook on many life experiences, thatchers britain being the root of his angst most of the time, however this mainly is a misconception as many if not most of his songs are tongue in cheek.

this song is not about being GAY | Reviewer: omni | 9/6/07

firstly, anyone that has a grip on catholicism will understand that ANY unmarried acts of desire are to be REPRESSED. if one chooses to remain unmarried and doesn't enter the holy order, they are in fact like a loaded canon unable to unload their love.

all sexual references aside, it also can refer to the act of LOVING people while being unable to because they judge, maim and harm us.

has anyone thought for one split second that morrissey could very well be a man that has not given into ANY sexual desires due to catholic teachings?

What nonsense | Reviewer: mark | 8/18/07

Why so much presumption that this song is about one's sexuality. Morrissey has suffered from depression from a young age. Perhaps, his wrestle with God is the despair of a man who has suffered from this illness for so long - given him a sense of abandonment by God. Even if we are spiritual and faithful, we are not sheep - we each wrestle with God about aspects of life.

True Christians don't judge. Christ loves gay people. We all sin, and sin is sin. The writer who
tried to tried to equivocate homosexuality to a woman who is unfaithful, because she "feels" that way is a terrible example. The woman has a choice - all my gay friends have told me if they had a choice, they would choose a hetero life, as it is much easier, etc.

As a Christian, I am not offended at all by these lyrics. They give me pause to think, and to empathize about the times in my life when I felt abandoned by Christ. If we were all so damn perfect, there wouldn't have been any need for Christ now would there?
