Only a few words... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/9/07
Is an empire that light which goes out, or just a firefly? (JORGE LUIS BORGES)
"After all We Will see there is something more powerful than the fury of an Elephant or the force of a Donkey: The Dragon’s Fire..." (P.Ghi Wilcox)
While the land of the free preaches about its gratness in the outside, falls asleep on his laurels.
While its pride is shown as a simbol of power and freedom, the millenium eastern red dragon awakes in a new skin.
He awakes y flies high, over, beyond the great wall.

Maybe Europeans ought to read some history books instead of jumping on the en vogue bandwagon and bashing the US, which is pretty much the only country doing anything substantial anywhere in the world (as well as the reason the UN even exists). Disagree with some of the policies? Sure, we all do. But what the f has Europe done except kill each other for eternity, drag the US in repeatedly to solve its problems (even still in the 1990s), bow to the foolishness of communism (during which you eastern european countries were especially helpful to the rest of the world, I might add), and now sit around and soak up American culture and bitch about American politics because it's cool to do. Have you looked at your own histories, your own governments, and your own individual complacency with the world? What are any of you doing besides bitching about the US, which is at least TRYing to improve the world (and it's pretty obvious how much it has, whether or not you agree on the past 4 years). Don't post any more BS about individual incidents and problems and disagreements. Everyone's got them in their own countries about their own countries, including Americans. No one's perfect. The world is complicated. But put the US contributions side by side with any other country, and any American can stand as tall as s/he wants. So keep smoking and sipping that tea, Europe! We're so grateful for everything you've done to help the world, LMFAO.
America The land of the brightest and the dumbest | Reviewer: André Aguilar | 7/12/07
America is living in a bubble. They see World poverty has a desease , with no cure , so "let's just save ourselves" . They are poluting the world and refuse to sign an agreement that the CIVILIZED WORLD proposed , Kioto's agrement.. They start wars not respecting ONU , the higher organization created by the CIVILIZED WORLD to avoid injustified attacks ... like attacking mid-east countries for oil .. Not to mention all the corruption and scandals inside all governments since the beggining of American Democracy .
It's a fear based democracy , like humans do with puppies to have a loyal and faithful dog in the future, that's how i see America today, believing everything they see on TV , with fear .
But of course, all the cheating , the wars for oil , the dirty money , the dirty politics , the backstage support on many many wars generates power and money , and now , of course , America has fantastic Places , fantastic students , the best of the best, wonderful cities , brilliand everyday gadgets and tech , the best movies and tv series , great artists ..etc.. . That is why Moz says "I love you" and that is why I Say :- "I love America" But it's a very hard relationship of passioned love with burning hate .

Quit being outraged by the truth. You seem ignorant.
No, you are ignorant.
And enough with that 9/11 card. Sure its sad but god damn it doesnt reflect back to everything. Im American, but damn this country is too....blinded and self centered.

This song proves the truism that the only thing sillier than Europe lecturing America is a European musician lecturing America.
"In America, it brought you the hamburger. Well America you know where, you can
shove your hamburger. And don't you wonder, why in Estonia they say, Hey you, you big fat pig, you fat pig, you fat pig"
Hamburgers? Estonia?? What deep wisdom! This American stands in awe of such profound lyrics! LOL!
You can't make this stuff up....
Oh, the 911 card. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/4/07
Exactly, I love that someone mentioned the overplayed '911 card', as I call it. Yes, it caused a lot of death in the states. But more people die in other countries everday. It makes me so angry when Americans are all, "BUT 911 FEEL SORRY AND LOVE ME." Check the news from other countries. You're not the only place with tragedy.

This is great song, not just in a political way. It's a great aong about the complicated love to a country. I also find the last half of the lyrics perfectly suited to be sang to a person and it has touched me big time.

Well, its may all be be true, surely. Still then today the whole world should be Ukraine, tomorrow from Congo and so on. If there is one thing i cannot stand about americans it is the overhyping the 11th september. Thousands of people die every day in Africa, Iraq(thank you america), Columbia and so on because of weapons.
And yes, I also cannot stand egoists Vincent Vega
WILL THE TORCH EXTINGUISH? | Reviewer: Vincent Vega | 9/23/04
I am an American and I am angered to listen to the lyrics and feel the emotional tenor conveyed in this song by the British singer Morrissey. This music is an affront to my sense of patriotism not simply because it is a caricature of the way many Americans view the rest of the world but sadly, because it is an all too accurate caricature.
On September 12th, 2001 the genuine sadness, tears and outpouring of sympathy and love by the people of the world were awe inspiring and perhaps most poignantly expressed by the words appearing in the headlines of one European newspaper: "TODAY WE ARE ALL AMERICANS".
This was a once-in-a-millennium opportunity, a golden moment, one that could have been the beginning of true unification among like minded people of the world. For there are those who would rather look to a future that is filled with the promise of ever increasing health, happiness and fulfillment for all the people, regardless of race, religion or sex; those who recognize the need to come together in the spirit of international cooperation to overcome economic, political and environmental problems that threaten all of us, everyone.
Then there are those who would rather live in a future of "more of the same": the same fear and insecurity; the same greed; the same hegemony; the same ignorance and the same intolerance, hatred and war that have so thoroughly dominated the first two millennia of human civilization.
It is a tragedy almost beyond comprehension that at this historical crossroads we find an America populated by so very many unenlightened souls who through their own fear, ignorance and stupidity cling to the ways of the last century. Their essence is reflected in the inept, dishonest, corrupt and cowardly character of those who are elected as their national representatives and leaders.
America Is Not The World but make no mistake, we are at a profound turning point as the future of this land of freedom, truth and justice will be determined on November 2, 2004 by the small fraction of its citizenry who will exercise their right to vote.
I used to have faith in the good sense, good heart and intelligence of the American people but something has been changing over the last ten or so years until now I feel myself to be as a stranger in a strange land of the increasingly fearful, ignorant, religious and fat. I fear the outcome of this election and what it may mean in the years ahead for my self, my family, my friends and for the people in rest of the world who once showered so much love on this country of which I was once so proud.
At this point I am only hoping for the best but I just can't shake the feeling that the America that opens its eyes on November 3rd, will with "steely blue eyes with no love in them, scan the world, and a humorless smile, with no warmth within, greet the world".
