inconvenient truth | Reviewer: jan | 5/23/08

"Regarding Iraq, that dictatorial blood-sucker Saddam should have been out on his ass after what he did to the Kurds and Kuwait. Of course this is an "inconvenient truth" that not a lot of lefties like to acknowledge. We finished what we should have done in 1991."

Sorry buddy. the only inconvenient truth is that America propped up sadaam to kill innocent civilians. And America gave him free guns, bombs, and yes even the chemical weapons so he could use them on Iranians.

The inconvenient truth is that Saddaam *IS* part of the American mistake. The mistake of foreign policy that leads to empire building and nation building and propping dictators and asshoels like sadaam.

You don't agree with me on sadaam?

Okay no problem, America has propped up the saudi's and they're WORST than sadaam. They kill murder and oppress in secret. What about the contras in haiti? Yup propped up by America. Nicaragua? Panama? how about bombing and killing innocent civilians in cambodia against the wills of congress? yup america.

America, your belly IS too big. stop making excuses.

If only our president were gay! | Reviewer: Donald Fagan | 4/15/08

The lyrics to this song are very contrived. Love the bit where he wants to see a black, female, or gay president. In America we still cling to outmoded ideas, such as the one where the highest office holder in the land isn't determined by race or gender or if you're male and you like other men.

Regarding Iraq, that dictatorial blood-sucker Saddam should have been out on his ass after what he did to the Kurds and Kuwait. Of course this is an "inconvenient truth" that not a lot of lefties like to acknowledge. We finished what we should have done in 1991.

"america" ain't the universal nation | Reviewer: nelsonsfate | 11/29/07

I appreciate those in Latin America who don't feel that the U.S.A should be messianically named.

And thoughtless populism is pretty ugly.

Morrissey should keep up his acidic antipathies. It appeals to me regardless of where I'm from(uh.. maybe because of?). And you haven't paid a second of attention to the artist if you take it personally.

I was in West Bridgford, Nottingham and was told by a friendly bloke, "When you get home to America write your congressman and tell him to wipe the Middle East off the map!". All I could think was that it would be hard to do. Seemed to me that the honest or contrived disgust that he had for the British establishment and its complacency was a better focus for him and me. But then what the hell did I know about that really!?

Was sure that I didn't want to get on his team and spit in the wind about a million war protesters in the streets of London. I might have liked to be there... I think.

As far as U.S. identity goes it will probably devolve some time in the future and 'chofreak' will get his wish. But as far as humorless antipathy goes it won't be able to match what this web log has to offer! People will be people.

Powerful, corrupt self-preserving governments will go to hell and take a lot of people with them!

I hope Morrissey will make it back to Austin, Texas soon! Cheers! and I love you too!

just comment | Reviewer: Chofreak | 11/25/07

I hate to say this but the "american" fellow is right in a way it is very easy to focus in the US criminal policies without watching what's happening in our own countries. As far as I know England, Spain, Denmark and some other countries backed the invasion of Irak, as for France, well, they carried along with the US and Canada the coup against Aristide in Haiti so we all have to watch out what governments are doing in our names. I don't believe in nationalism since it is just a way to justify wars, plunder and destruction.

greetings from Mexico where the government is just as criminal and corrupt as almost everywhere.

PD: I wish someday we could stop calling US people "americans" becouse US is only one part of this great continent who gave birth to Bolivar, Zapata and many other brilliant people

Most americans are just cold | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/18/07

Obviously even though there are some americans that do worry about what's really happening in the world, there are others (the majority, I'm afraid) that still make up excuses for what their goberment is doing, like the one who posted that europeans shoud read more history... this goes for you...
Uhmm... if you think that we are making a melodrama (after all that's the title of your entry) over millions of persons that are being killed unnecesary so you can drive around in your SUV eating junk food do forgive us... my bad!

Why? | Reviewer: Sam | 11/9/07

Do you put up with your moronic political spectrum?

Why do you feel patriotic when other human beings are being killed for an illegal cause!?

Fair play to Morrissey!

"In America, I discovered one of the great mysteries of astronomy. The dark night of fascism is forever descending in America, but it only touches ground in Europe."
~ Jean-Francois Revel

Please?... | Reviewer: Arcatan | 10/23/07

I am even tired of hearing the 9/11 allusion and I am american. I've given my fair share of reverance to the tragedy, yet I believe it is more important to move on with life and focus on issues more pressing than the past. As a college student, I see a country run by older, self concerned individuals, devoid of any kind of reason. There is not one major media network that does not side with one bias or another it is simply ridiculous. Why would we want to watch coverage of Anna Nicole Smith for 2 weeks, when there is a war we need to end RIGHT NOW? As a young person, I hear about Iran and I think... draft. I think Vietnam. The younger generation is sick and tired of an old regime. We want change. We want to be loved and accepted in the world even when we know the ill attention we get abroad is given for a reason. Bullying and aggression were what Europe and the US fought in WWII side by side, and now we are guilty. When will our leaders learn to listen to the world again?.. I love America, but I think she needs to heal.

one more song against America | Reviewer: Santa | 10/19/07

a song bashing America? WOW! How original!

Mainly coming from an European, where leaders are blacks, women and gays... LOL
