Think she was writing this about me | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/13/08
I just got divorced. I first heard this song a few months ago and it just cut right to the heart of what I was going through. I knew I didn't love him anymore (in the way I needed to) but I also knew that I couldn't stay with him anymore. Missy writes about the painful experience of still loving someone that you just don't want to be with and knowing that you have to let that person go. I think she snuck into my head to write this song!!!
Truly Amazing | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/25/08
This is a truly amazing song. I heard it and immediately thought of my daugther who is struggling with falling out of love with her boyfriend, and trying to figure out what her feelings are and if she is ready to let go. The words are so powerful and her voice is haunting, this song nearly brings me to tears and takes me back to a similar situation I had myself. Just because you are the one ending a relationship, it doesn't mean that the end of it doesn't leaving you feeling lost, alone, and heartbroken. Amazing job!
It must have been love | Reviewer: Fairy | 7/8/08
I see it as: she was actually in a happy relationship, things went wrong and she started running... The voices in her head told her that the right thing to do was to end the relationship.
So she broke up with her man. She believed that it was the right thing to do. She moved on and now he moved on too - he is happy in another relationship. All of a sudden, she feels lost in the emotion. She doesn't know who she is, but when she relives the memories, she knows...
Although she broke up, she wasn't ready for him to move on so quickly - now she's not ready to deal with the idea of someone else touching him... She's now torn inside - although it's not actually suppose to bother her.
She knows deep down that they aren't meant to be together, and that the girl with him would probably love him more, because there will be more for her to come, but she's got big shoes to fill - cause she gave it her all while she was with him...
A meaning behind a beautiful song | Reviewer: Rebecca | 4/26/08
I think Missy did an excellent honor to herself writing this.
For me it is the story of a woman who can't bear to see her love with someone else. She doesn't know herself without him, even though she knows that she should. And she can't bear the though of someone filling her place in his life. I think by her saying "she who dares" implies that no-one will be able to share the love with him which she did.
So excited for the new album | Reviewer: CharlotteLauren | 2/5/08
I have to laugh, living in the US sometimes we miss out on alot! I spent a lonely day in Melbourne AU 3 years ago and fell in love with Missy watching an all day Australian MTV marathon. She is just so unique, genuine, and true, that it brings a peace and sense of honesty. I didn't even know about her new album until the end of a Smallville episode. Immediatly I knew it was her and am so excited her tour and notoriaty is coming this way... it's clearly a refreshing alternative to Brittney Spears and the enormous amount of untalented ass-clowns girls have to emulate these days!!! Kudos Missy Higgins!!!
love is hard | Reviewer: Kristine | 2/4/08
the way I see this song is that she loves this guy with all her heart but she is having the hardest time letting him go because its the best thing and WHAT SHE HAS TO DO. She loves him so much, she doesnt know what she should do without him and she cant stand someone else being with him but she knows its best. This is exactly what is going on with me and thats how i feel.

I think the meaning is that even though she loves him more than anyone she's ever loved, it is because of that love the reason she has lost her individuality, her identity. She's always been with him & feels that if she stays in that relationship, at this point in time, she'll regret it. Each person needs to dedicate time to themselves, just to figure out where their life is headed. If it's meant to be, than they'll find themselves again.
love part two | Reviewer: anonymous | 1/31/08
"all i know is that i should" is referring to the lyrics before it. "i dont know who i am, or who i am with out you. all i know is that i should" The girl is saying that she doesnt know who she is yet but she feels like she should know by now. "and i dont know if i could stand another hand upon you but all i know is i should" is saying that she knows she shouldnt be this attatched to her partner and even though she loves him. She knows that she should be able to accept the fact that SHE left HIM. and because she left him, she needs to be happy he found another partner that loves him more than she did
love | Reviewer: anonymous | 1/31/08
i interpret this song as meaning that the girl in the song doesnt know who she is yet and she isnt ready for anything this serious even though she loves him. she needs to find out who she is first. Also she is afraid to be with him at this point, almost like she is afraid of commitment. She loves the boy and she doesnt think she can stand to see him with another girl. But because the boy is "putting up a fight" he loves her too. And the next girl that comes into his life will love him more than the girl because she wont leave him. Also he has let the other girl go if he is ready for a new relationship.
quite complicated, but i have been through it
iku and yori!!!!!!!!!! (search Iku and Yori on youtube to find out what i'm talking abt.!!) | Reviewer: *Calli* (loves forbidden love) | 1/1/08
Before I say anything, it should be stated that all songs have multiple interpretations, and my interpretation prob. isn't the artist's interpretation, but heregoes anyways:
the song could be about forbidden love, and having to end it because even though it feels so right and it is pure and comes from the heart, other people wouldn't accept it and the other person would get hurt or even be sent to jail.
"I dont know what i've done
Or if i like what i've begun"
~those lines could mean that the person just realizes the intensity of the taboo relationship she started and realizes that it has to be transient. it can't last because society won't let it last.
"Cause i dont know who i am, who i am without you
All i know is that i should
And i dont know if i could stand another hand upon you
All i know is that i should
Cause she will love you more then i could
She who dares to stand where i stood"
~The chorus is extremely important. It is saying, that the narrator (say, Iku, in Boku wo imouto wu suru) is so in love that she forgot who she is without (in this case) Yori, and that she falls apart inside when she sees Yori with her best friend, but inside she knows that she should not be with Yori even though she wants it with all her heart. And the "cause she will love you more than i could" is not about intensity of love, but that society will be more likely to LET the other person love Yori than let Iku love Yori.
"See i thought love was black and white
That it was wrong or it was right"
~these lines are perfect because it shows the torment insides one mind when they fall into forbidden love (i.e., bro-sis), like Iku and Yori; originally one might automatically think its wrong but thats only because they have the black-and-white mindset that there is only right and wrong; really, there are so many shades of gray that life is so crazy.
