Rumors | Reviewer: Elijah | 7/2/07

Its just in a teens world people alway puttin your name out there and destroy it wit rumor or the way the person act or talk or do people need to stop puttin others down it aint worth it

He has done it before (Leave Me Alone) and will no doubt do it again (Privacy) but this is Jackson's best response to the media circus of his life and celebrity culture. The lyrics say it all, "just because you read it in a magazine or see it on the TV screen don't make it factual."

More than a decade later, Tabloid Junkie is still timely and relevant. The song admonishes not just the media but a horrendously complicit public, all of whom lament the rise of tabloid celebrity culture even as we fail to acknowledge that we are responsible for it.

Jackson's biting lyrics simultaneously look to the past and the future: "You say it's not a sword But with your pen you torture men You'd crucify the Lord. And you don't have to read it, read it And you don't have to eat it, eat it To buy it is to feed it. So why do we keep foolin' ourselves?"
