The Reviews about Is It Scary? (page 1/ 2)
------ performed by Michael Jackson
his birthday | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/29/09
today's his birthday!
but the world can't celebrate it, cause he is gone. sadly GONE TOO SOON. he really was an angel that the world's been seeking for a very long time. in the year of 1958 an angel was born and now WE'VE GOT him FOREVER in out memories. i've got nothing to do with religion and all that ive got no god to pray to, but i have a faith. i do believe in those 'little gods' who wanted to HEAL (=change) THE WORLD, but sadly never ever did, cause this, our, world is 2BAD, really cruel. IS IT SCARY? yes, it is. those little gods like martin luther king, ghandi, mother theresa. and now a new god has been raising. michael, formally an angel, is now a god. he was a living legend, now he is rosen to the olymp.
it really was HIStory!!
An obra maestra that speaks the truth | Reviewer: ched | 8/10/09
The lyrics and the music video are Michael's obra maestra that speaks the truth. Maybe, Michael looks scary, weird, freak. But the real scary are the media who sell their souls to Satan to earn profit from making false craploid(tabloid) news and stories that poor judgmental people easily buy and believe. Michael is an angel, Media are the monsters.
Michael has already said a line fromhis song Childhood:
"Before you judge me, try hard to love me."
I wish people have learned a lesson from Michael's life. He's like any normal people. Every man wants to beloved and be understood. Which we never gave back to him.
Forgive us Michael, we just realized we hurted ourselves by hurting you.
Prejudice is a long time historical scary sin that Jesus tried hard to preach us. And Michael did preach us this again. When we comdemn other people means we hate ourselves.
Is it scary?
It is scary.
Absolute Greatness | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/10/09
This song was produced by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis for the Stephen King mini movie starring Michael Jackson called Ghosts...It is ashamed that this was not released as a single, and that the whole song was not performed in the movie, the dancing is the best, especially the skeleton when he sings this...off the chain...
Your right. | Reviewer: Marissa | 8/1/09
When I read theese lyrics, I relized how cruel and evil We are. WE are the strange the cruel the evil.WE are the beast. I am stunned at how correct theese reveiws are. GOD BLESS YOU MICHAEL. WHY DOES IT ALWAYS SEEM TO GO,YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOU GOT TILL ITS GONE. YOU ARE THE ONE WHO SUCCEDED IN BRINGING PEACE TO THE WORLD. EVERY ONE ELSE IS AFRAID TO TRY

I love this song and how passionately Michael has sung it...he really meant it and i just wish people had understood him when hewas alive. He s an amazingly wonderful person. It's amazing how great he was! The short film ghosts from which this song is from was amazing! I just saw it last week and i think it was made in 1996? Goshh the guy was a genius! He comes up with these awesome stuff..totally amazing!
Too Real | Reviewer: Eva Prokop | 7/18/09
Michael always said that most of his songs were autobiographical, and that he always attempted to bind his soul to his work,(like any true artist). In light of that, I think that this song is a haunting commentary on the way the public and his critics saw him..as a beast, a weirdo, a freak, Wacko Jacko. The man was not stupid, he was aware of being made fun of in the press and I think he's saying here that we were the real strange ones for our constant obsession with every thing he did..using him as the poster child for a guy everyone can pick on to feel better about themselves.."you know the stranger is you, am I scary for ya". He was also, I believe, on a life long quest to find people who truly understood him and accepted him, kindred souls.."but if you came to see the truth, the purity, It's here inside a lonely heart." Michael always did have his die hard fans, but I wish that we had all realized while he was living, what an amazing, ridiculously talented, revolutionary guy he was..I think he would have been amazed to see the worldwide outpouring of love towards him. What a beautiful, gentle, kind, amazing being we have lost..it makes me sad to think that for most of us, we didn't know what we had until in him until he was gone. Peace Michael. We love you so much.
This song is a self-reflection.... | Reviewer: Korynn | 7/19/09
Michael is talking about how he is portrayed as some eccentric, wierd person to the public, but he's truly just looking to live his life in peace.
"If you want to see eccentric oddities,
I'll be grotesque before your eyes."
The media keeps talking about how his actions are strange to them, and he's essentially calling them out and saying something like "You wanna see wierd? I'll show you wierd."
If you watch the short film Ghosts, which this is from, this message is really presented clearly. Michael portrays a misunderstood man who lives in a big, haunted mansion. A group of adults from town come into his house asking him to leave believing he's creepy and wierd, but the people who have spent time with him--a group of kids, who don't see a haunting, but magic--defend him. In the end he *spoiler?*--Michael--wins over the group of bitter, hate-filled adults.
"Like a mirror reveals the truth,
See the evil one is you..."
He's saying here that nobody is as innocent as they believe. If you look in the mirror instead of faulting everyone else, you see that you're not as perfect as you think you are. You've got problems, too. Focus on yours instead of those of others.
There is also a line I can't really remember about truth and purity, and being able to see it "here inside a lonely heart--"that's his he's talking about. He's saying he really is a good person, and he was--you just have to take the time to get to know him, which many people didn't. They simply accept(ed) what the media spoon-fed them.
If you haven't seen Ghosts, see it immediately. The atmosphere of this song is so much better understood within this brilliant short film.
Pure genious | Reviewer: Tammy | 7/16/09
Oh please...this song is great, intriging, suspense, it's story telling with a beat. It's fantastic, and I love it...His use of lyric to portay messages is amazing..this man was oure genius, he was a phenominal creatiion of creativity, and I dont think we can understand the amount of creativty he possed...beyond a genuis, beyond a lengend..He was simply Michael Jackson :)
Not about death | Reviewer: Anonymous | 7/18/09
This song isn't about death, it's about all the people that made fun of him and called him a freak and stuff like that. So in this song he's saying he can be what people want him to be, but it's nothing but a performance, and if you want to see "the truth of purity" then it's "there inside his lonely heart."

no i dont think he was forshadowing his death in this. i think he was talking about how people were always portraying him to be a beast and grotesque like he says in the song. thats why hes asking am i scary for you? also hes probably telling people to look on the inside and not on the outside. idk i might be wrong im not too good with analyzing lyrics lol but thats just my interpretation.
