warrior's song | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/10/10
The song reminds me of new recruits joining the military. How at first they are ignorant and soon they are thrust into combat and loose their innocense. When they come back home, they can't sheaf their swords. Society dubs them *crazy* while others insult their alligence and take freedom for granted. All the while, the powers that be, control the population and send more *new ones* back into the fire. The cycle repeats itself. But some are chosen;,the warriors, and they know who they are. God Bless them all!

I am ancient, 63 almost and was given this as a present by younger sister, I have listened to it over and over, crying the first time angry the next and atlast reaching understanding as I saw my life generated through the words thats resound.
We must be reminded from time to time that we should not throw lables at anyone!
Evanesence and Metalica are now my night time music.................

Just a few thoughts | Reviewer: +Empathy* | 3/31/08
Everyone who dares to manipulate new-born minds is a criminal.
What fanatics do is to force people, even their own blood, in believing what they believe and living as they live, it doesn't matter if this could make them unhappy. If they don't, they deserve to be labelled, to be isolated, in worst cases to be even killed.
"Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery...NONE BUT OURSELVES CAN FREE OUR MIND!"
Fan and father of Metallica fan | Reviewer: Rick | 12/15/07
I'm 56 and have always loved this song. My 21 year old son has been a fan of the band since grade school. To me, this song is about lifes inner struggles and how life is what happens to me while I'm making other plans. It also says that if you don't label me, I won't label you...Old fashon golden rule stuff. Rock on!
maybe it's going to be like this... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/21/07
First of all the song doesn't talk about Jason because he was in the band at that time and for 3 more albums... The song talks about a country of fascism where people are not allowed even to think. A young man makes a 'vow unto his own' that he will never be taken away his free will, his free thoughts and his will to change the whole fascismic thing. As you can see in the vide clip he manages to find a place where he cannot be watched by the government and think freely. However as he grows older and finally becomes old realises that all he has done was in vain because there was no one around him to express his thoughts to as well as he did not manage to change anything about the system. So, being finally one more man beaten by fascism, he dies sadly

FUCKING KILLER METALLICA
Unforgiven | Reviewer: dartigen | 10/28/07
You know, I've never actually been able to listen to this song without crying...somehow, it gets to me. I'd say why, but it's very personal.
Still, any band that can make a song that gets a reaction out of me have to be one of the best. It annoys me when people that I know judge Metallica as being 'crap' because they're an older band. Does that make them bad? No. It makes them one of the very best. Not just of heavy metal bands, but of all bands. And Unforgiven has to be one of their best songs ever.
Painfully True For So Many In this Journey of Life | Reviewer: Marlana Monet | 10/27/07
What an awesome song...both lyrics and music! Metallica has exceptional talent and they do ROCK! I am 65 yrs. young, with 2 sons...one plays guitar, the other one of the hottest drummers this universe has ever known-just has not been in the right place at the right time. But is doing great with another career. Back to the song Unforgiven...I love this song, it speaks and tells the story of so many lives... of so much pain, of so much life lived in the "darkness or shadows of a life lived lets say in the sunshine with a flow of plenty of everything. People, it really happens-and some never come out of the shadow of darkness-many do though. Thank you Metallica for this song and for the heart and SOUL you guys put into it. POWERFUL

unforgiven is great! | Reviewer: ammy | 9/20/07
I only recently heard this song for the first time on a local radio station. They did not say who did it and although parts are very metallica, I didn't know for sure. I tried to call the station for a long time and finally like 3 months later they were talking about the song...soon as I heard the words unforgiven I knew it was the right one. I am so excited. fantastic lyrics, very haunting!
