The Reviews about The Unforgiven II (page 2/ 4)
------ performed by Metallica

what's it about | Reviewer: metallicious | 1/14/09

I Don't really think its a love song, read the review pratik wrote on the unforgiven I.

and this song is more about finally finding someone who feels the same way about the world being a cold and lonely place, and he finally feels someone understrands him.

but on the other hand isn't that what love is or at least what it should be someone who thinks the same as you do? when you feel cold and lonely and betrayed by everything and everyone?

thats how i think about it. but to know the true meaning about this song i suggest to send an e-mail to metallic.

metallica ain't gay at alll | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/25/08

metallica = gay is a freakin' loser! if you think Enter Sandman is the best song from Metallica it is clear you haven't heard anything but black, load, reload and st anger! I like both Metallica and Megadeth! You are really fucked up if you think Sabbath are Mustaine's disciples! Piece of advice for you: stop doing drugs, stop masturbating on gay porn, stop writing shit on the internet...

MEGADETH RULES | Reviewer: metallica = GAY! | 12/23/08

holy crap, you metallifags think metallica has the best lyrics? WRONG! I am not saying megdeth does either, though. all I am saying is that metallica sucks. the only song metallica has ever written that doesnt make me want to hold a gun to my head(and not in the good way that megadeth makes me) is enter sandman. In a world where religion is based on metal artists, dave mustaine is jesus, ozzy, alice cooper, tony Iommi, geezer butler, and bill ward are his disciples. (since you are metallica fans I am not expecting you to know who that is, they are black Sabbath, except alice cooper) and metallica is the anti-christ. and taken out of context I know it sounds like I am praising metallica, but in a world where religion is based of metal artists, divine beings woule be evil, so really I am not. by the way, I am not sure if I have made this clear yet, metallica sucks.

Revelation | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/2/08

A boy, not his whole arm, but more than his hand and wrist, stuck in a wall... His sight ahead, blocked; a massive stone wall, he only sees. Standing there jaded and all alone, just him and, and that wall at the edge of a cliff, he is not aware of. He stares high above, would he try to reach the top, what if there’s a chance to pass beyond, where it ends up high there? Nowhere... There he is, the boy has got time to think, plenty of. Once he was free, he recalls. He remembers he’d been around there before, the monument was visible, but he wasn’t captived then. Images continue to flash before his eyes. An old man dancing jubilantly, a man, resembling just like him. It looks like he thriumped, he’ll feel free at the end. His eyes, shut, perceives it, perceives what will happen. But the tired mind harshly rejects, the boy is whispered thoughts, and put into a mood. He is then off the idea that the day will ever come.

Eyes, still shut, continue to show what they had witnessed. The last scene left... The last meeting... With her... It was hard to talk to her, but for once, she’d left her obligations. Time was short; a bit relieved, to feel like exactly how it used to be, he wanted her to be close, to lay beside him. Indeed, it was killing the boy to know she’s someone else’s. No other chance, so, waiting for ages to make it, finally to make this conservation, it was hard and complicated, to tell what he wanted to, as lips threw out the meaningless words of a confused mind. The boy wanted to know what she’d been through, while he was away, with the ones she was in love. The thoughts didn’t cease to appear, each puncturing, driving him crazy. The boy just wished they were not precious for her, he wished they hadn’t hurt her, he’d even begged her to lie, in order to pacify his demons. He felt so much for her, and thought so did she, but her heart was closed to him, she chose to remain devoted to someone else. They both had to be true, hear their hearts, he could only wish. He knew he had mistaken when he left the girl, if only she could forgive him, to make it easier to forgive her gladly in return.

Those days were faded to black, in daytime clouds gathered around as she used to feel sorry for him when they came across, and he couldn’t stand the nights, couldn’t help thinking of her which made them all darker. The boy had turned back to her, he was there, but the girl wasn’t; she was acting reluctantly, refused to betray her lover, and this was how all their roads were blocked. Things seemed to get better since they’d started to meet after a period, but he was sure he wasn’t satisfied, simply the girl wasn’t him. He thought the door is ajar, but her heart was still black after all. Then, the boy opens his eyes, sees the wall crack and fall apart. All the glory of it hits the ground but just an ordinary shape of a door still stands and keeps his arm. The door keeps blocking the way ahead and up, piercing the dim light of the sun though he is still deprived of sunshine, the cure of his soul.

He refreshes his memory, to fully remember what he did so far; before finding himself stuck there, what he felt and what he’d done. His visions are happening like he is turning the pages of a narrative, the story of his life. Is the door the last page of this narrative? Or is the whole narrative covered in stone, holding its pages inside, telling what will happen to him? Should he turn the page or let the visions tell the future? What if she was stuck on the other side of the stone? Will he? Will he open the door, his heart to her? He can’t risk it. Though, the boy’s in doubt, not sure whether to continue feeling for her or not. He was afraid, always afraid of the things he’d been feeling. He doesn’t know if the girl will like him later again. This question eats his brain out, thus he calls himself the Unforgiven, never to be forgiven of what he had done to her. But maybe he can’t be the only, he thinks he can call the girl the Unforgiven, too, if she won’t ever be there for him. Like chasing a star down on the Earth, he doesn’t know if it’s worth it.

The boy was back there again, where he asked her to lay beside him. He tried to persuade her, wanted to hold her tight, avenge the absence. He couldn’t get why she was ignoring him although he is sure, the girl loves him. Soon he realized he has no chance, gives up, his demons are welcome again to decide the only thing he thinks he can do now. The only way to make her to be there for him, to die. For sure the black heart doesn’t change, no matter what else he does, he is believed. Along with the sly look in his eyes, the snakes that befriends and bonds him to the door appears, the tornados above gives enough pessimism, captures his body. Who cares the pigeons, welcome demons! Who cares what is felt and done, the fate is in his hands now, he will conclude. And will he just walk away like this? No, another chance will be given to her, he’ll wait a little more, but not much. Then we’ll see if there’s someone else who’s unforgiven.

Thoughts travel fast inside the boy’s head, having different favourites each time, he matures. He stretches his arm; in the search for other suns, he wanders away from the door. Nope, soon he finds his way back, back to his dungeon, desperately. If he could drill that door right there, he would be free. Our man, can no longer stand this, he finally makes his final decision. He erases the memories and thoughts about her, till not a little piece of them remains. She is dead to him now. Having no intention to open the door anymore; thanks to the choice, the wall finally lets his arm go, as he’s never been that close to see the sun before. What was touching is he finds out that the door was just an illusion he creates, he needlessly locked himself to. Virtuosly, he then takes the key to the girl’s heart and buries it within her, as he is deligted to dub her the Unforgiven II.

Haven't you related yourself to any song yet? Sure you did. Now this is the song that narrates my life. You heard it right, that young boy here is me.

if you wanna get the full effect on being unforgiven, then take 2 i-pod's, on one, play the unforgiven, on the other, play the unforgiven II, put an earphone in each ear, and listen for the next 5 minutes. Its pretty cool.

beautiful song | Reviewer: Zach Malpensado of teen4m.net | 4/12/08

Notice the title is spelled "Unforgiven II", but the name, in a way, is spoken in the song. Anyway, it's an awesome song, sort of a love song, but just plain awesome. Metallica's the greatest band ever just because they *can* do love songs, such as this and Nothing Else Matters, but they can also do songs like King Nothing and ...And Justice for All, as they can play songs like 2x4 and Ride the Lightning. And yes, I just grouped those songs. Metallica is the best metal band in history, period.

The speaker of the song isn't one of the Unforgiven. If you listen to the first song, you'll notice he "dubs thee unforgiven", meaning all those who have treated him wrong in life are the Unforgiven. So, at the end, when she betrays him, she becomes one of the Unforgiven.

NOT a love song. To sander | Reviewer: Igor | 12/28/07

It contains some love directions, but I think, the main theme is enother.
I think, the point is, that all people are hypocritical. They, or it's better to say we all, are triing to hide some parts of our personality and nature from other people and, what is the worst, from our salves. We lie to ourselves, so we are unforgiven.
He wants to open his nature, he wants to be clean, but he wants to "confess" to a clean not unforgiven human.
In the end, he finds out, that she also "plays" and liys to him and her self, and that is why she is unforgiven and he can't open to her. So he will be still unforgiven.
Last words "Never free" means, that there is no human who is clean. Every body lie to themselves, so we are all unforgiven and he can't be saved.

To Thomas | Reviewer: Sander | 12/16/07

Thank you so much! i finally understand both songs :P Theres just one thing i doesn't seem to understand... what's wrong with her beeing unforgiven, he is himself, and he even want's her to say that she has suffered the same way as him (Something she would only be able to say, if she was unforgiven too), and he is unforgiven himself, he should be able to forgive her??? well, anyway, if you see this, i realy hope u'll anwser! In the meantime, i will wondder myself, but ty so much for giving me a point of view on this song! :P
