Reviews for The Four Horsemen Lyrics

Like it or not these lyrics are Religious and nothing makes for stranger bed fellows. This song is so religious (i.e. spiritual) it practically plagiarizes from the book of Revelations. Anybody that can't acknowledge that probably has some sort of mental hang-up or bias that blocks them from acknowledging the glaringly obvious.

But that doesn’t mean that Metallica’s lyrics and “otherworldly” talent for sonic manipulation as sincere “Christianity” but rather the flipside of “the way”. The Four Horsemen, like Apollyon (aka Abaddon) could possibly be Exiled Angels (i.e. Demons) that have and/or will do the “dirty work” of the Creator. “Creeping Death”, “The Call of Ktulu” and “The Thing That Should Not Be” are other titles that pickup on this demonological lyrical theme of Metallica.

Supposedly Hetfield was raised in a Christian Scientist household, and I believe we see this influence the lyrical content of the most “Metal” band of all time.

The way i see it is this story comes from the book of Revelation! When God laid out his plans on how the world ends to Paul... 1st there was a white horse and the rider caried a bow, it's name was the conqueror, it was sent out to conquer the earth and every one on it (those who did not follow or stuck to god's word were killed as examples for the rest of society)....Next was the red horse, and it's rider carried a sword it's pupose was to inflict conflict on earth and turn men against men, and for men to kill one another (as in the line "It's time to wield the blade, you've got some company"... Next was the black horse it's rider carried a set of scales and it's meaning was for scarcity,(or famine) as it says in the song.... The last rider is death it rode a pale horse and beared all the power of the other riders, to kill with the sword, famine, and widespread death (pestilence)... so as it says "TIME has taken its toll on you, the lines that crack your face ... FAMINE your body it has torn through withered in every place ...
PESTELINCE for what youve had to endure and what you put others through ... DEATH deliverence for you for sure now there's nothing you can do" I belive this song i written about what the four horsemen mean in the bible in the book of revelation! What do you belive?

Sebastian, if you didn't know, Kirk is one of the 100 best soloists of all time and Dave is not even in the list. 3 of Kirk's solos are in top 100 solos of all time and One solo is in 6 place, it is considered to be one of the hardest to play solo, so if you still think that Dave is better then you can go and fuck yourself. Kirk and Metallica kicks ass \m/.

mechanix is not this song!!! it resembles it a lot, but it's not the same song!! mechanix is a discarded version of the "no life till leather" demo that never made it onto kill 'em all!! yea, mechanix is a great tune, but that song and this one are not the same!!!

the four horsemen reprsent that time will always catch up on man and make him pay for the sins he has committed. they represent death for sinners and death to all who have betrayed god and the almighty power he controls.so basically it is the most gruesome way to die as thought by some people:being abducted while you sleep by the representitives of death.

Great song, but i must say this.

Someone said "views on religion", what the hell does that mean? I think you need to realize its not about, religion, its about life and whats going to happen, not constricting yourself to a set of beliefs.

Metallica's version is better.

I just love when guys like sebastain talk like that about Metallica, they make me laught. Just shut the fuck up and go home listen to Britney Spears. And next do us a favor, jump off a rock or something...
OR... no matter. Even if you don't people like you only give more fuel to Metallica, so stick around!

I've listened to various versions of Metallica's "Four Horsemen" and "The Mechanix", as well as various versions of Megadeth's "Mechanix". The drums sound pretty much the same, EXCEPT for the fast triple bass drum (sorry, but that's what I call it) that I hear on the "Kill Em All" version of "Four Horsemen". I love that sound, but I haven't heard it anywhere else. It's possible that my version of "Kill Em All" was tweaked in the studio, as so many recording artists do in later years, but it's interesting to see that this is the only version of "Four Horsemen" I've found that has this killer bass drum pattern.

Time isn't one of the four horsemen. Metallica used it in place of war because of their anti-war stance.

This is good, back when metallica was good. Before they sold out. The first three albums were by far the best. I love Dave Mustaine, he owns at this song. But I still think kirk is better. Jason Newstead is a greedy, fame hungry sellout, and Lars is just an asshole. Kirk is the only one who hasn't really sold out.

Maybe the four horsemen come from a different passage, or they represent a passage to the heavens. What happens to us as we die; time, famine, pestilence. These cause death. Or maybe they just did not spend that much time and thought on their song.

Does anyone else notice that time isn't a freakin' horseman of the apocalypse. WTF?
