metallica is the best metal band that i have ever heard .............it simply rocks ....and more over they make songs close to reality ,what acctually happens in the real world..........METALLICA ROCK

Best of the best. | Reviewer: Zack | 6/28/09

This in my opinion is metallicas most meaningful song. It pretty much explains the last 3 years of my life which has such an effect whenever i listen to it. I do wish they did make more songs that had the creepy feel with a meaning behind it. It seems now-a-days modern music has no meaning behind simply cramming a bunch of words that make no sense together.

Overall i believe this may be Metallicas best song.

songs meaning | Reviewer: steve | 6/28/09

i know this song is about some sort of mental control, but perhaps it has a lot to do with how people (particularly soldiers) struggle with war trauma.

No locked doors, no windows barred
No things to make my brain seem scarred - doesnt seem like a mental institution.

Natives getting restless now - vietnam war?

also, a common motif foudn in the master of puppets album is war, along with control.

AWESOME | Reviewer: Ktulu | 6/17/09

I LOVE this song! It has a very creepy feeling to it, and the lyrics are very interesting. Truely a classic off of the best metal album of the 80's. I really wish Metallica would write more deep, epic songs like this. Death Magnetic sounded generic to me. If it wasn't for Hetfield's voice, I probably wouldn't even think it was Metallica...

blargh | Reviewer: Zahin | 6/10/09

This isn't the best song, but it is the shit!!! This and One are the songs that got me into Metallica, and out of that Panic! at the Disco and Fall Out Boy crap that I listened to last year when I was 12.

When I first heard this song, I thought it was really awkward. It shifts time signatures every.. what, four measures? Goes from 4/4 to 2/4, and that's what makes each lyrical phrase so close to the next. But that awkwardness flowed really well with what the actual lyrics were. Then you have the guitar playing, with the slower solos simply flowing right out of the choruses. It's just a very good song.

I don't understand people's talk about Metallica not being Metallica anymore, though. If you listen to Death Magnetic, it just sounds like the song that should've come after "...And Justice for All". Particularly songs like The Day that Never Comes and All Nightmare Long. The guitar just jumps out in that same fashion.

And also keep in mind that they're all forty+ years old. Hetfield isn't going to have that same voice, which seems to have been a big complaint.

Better than today's crap. | Reviewer: Kevin | 4/25/09

I'm 16, and have been a fan of Hard Rock and most types of Metal for a few years. I heard Metallica's newer stuff and was unimpressed. Then I heard Disposable Heroes, and was blown away. It was so much more creative than what I hear today, and went out and bought Ride the Lightening and Master of Puppets later that week. This is one of my favorite songs from them, and I love how the lyrics to most of the songs are satirical sociopolitical themes.

To answer any questions, yes, I am a geek. That is why I have better grammar than some of the "adults" that posted here, why sociopolitical themes interest me, and why I know so much about music.
