one of the same | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/18/09
this song is so good. it applies to me very well. i spent 6 days stuck in a nut house, and that was bad, and then when i got out i heard this song on the radio, and had to buy Master Of Puppets. this song makes me want to cry because it reminds me of how badly i was treated in the mental hospitol. metallica rules. always will. except for St. Anger. That SUCKED. Death Magnetic is okay, could have been better, but its still Metallica to me
Great song | Reviewer: Kent | 3/16/09
Definently a awesome song relating to mental people. Like he said "Keep him tied, it makes him well". Every Metallica song tells a story. Truly a amazing piece of art, but that's every song in the Master of Puppets album. But Metallica is just not Metallica anymore. Sure they have a couple good songs in death magnetic but just isn't the same. Still the Metallica we all know and love is a great band.
good but one is more bttr | Reviewer: rajneesh | 3/1/09
this song is not as good as 'one' wchich is fav for every mettalica song,...thisis nt that heavy not so touching,..it doesnt fit my mood but still as its a metallica song,it cant be ignored.i rate it 5/10.
awesome | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/11/09
exactly as sinnical said, this is a great song but not the only great song of metallica and for sure not of master of puppets. My main influence for me playing guitar was Burton himself and Hetfield
Amazing. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 2/2/09
Everything stated above is true, for a teenager like me this song is like cake to a hobo. This is one of their most deepest impacting song if you really listen to the meaning of it. Its also extremely catchy. And who ever was beefing on "Death Magnetic" earlier, Shove it cause there is nothing wrong with a filler record and to be coming back from a over 10 year break Metallica did a damn good job. "The Day That Never Comes" is like a wife beating song but it still rocks hard.
amazing | Reviewer: Minitzan | 1/29/09
the Melody, the words, everything. it's just amazing, a master-piece. I really love it, but to bad that Metallica isn't Metallica anymore.. the first five albums were the most genious albums EVER. I really love 'em.
Great Song! | Reviewer: Sinnical | 12/22/08
Not just this, every song on Master of Puppets is a gem. I listened to it like after 2 years & found it as awesome as i did for first time. this one, "damage, inc", "orion" {the best Met Instrumental out there},"battery" & not to forget title track; You cant just get over'em.
Btw this song is based on or at least relates easily to the movie "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" ...you'd remember when McMurphy almost starts a mutiny & nearly kills head nurse.
Fear of living on
Natives getting restless now
Mutiny in the air
Got some death to do
...
kill is such a friendly word
seems the only way
for reaching out again
Absolutely brilliant!
It's about the tragedy of trying to fit in. | Reviewer: Pratik | 12/18/08
I believe this song is about how people will try to be themselves but no one will accept them unless they are a certain way. The world in general will try to change you and cram you into a mold that you can't fit into but desperately try to.
If you don't have that certain look or that certain job status or that certain kind of car or whatever, you won't be accepted.
No one can accept people for who they are. You have to be fit, skinny, botox'd, watching the latest reality TV, be very gossipy, etc. If you don't fit in, then there's obviously something wrong with you, according to them.
But that's the world we live in: superficial and dense to the core.
