flame | Reviewer: met-lica | 1/2/09

its flame all the way:P not pain or flames, and i have been metallica fan for 9 years. and i have the tab book with the orginal lyrics, så you have to take away the s in flames in the beginning, its flame! mama said have some strong words, and thats from load and its beutiful, and thorn within, st.anger have one great song after my opinion, the unnamed feeling that have some really strong agressive words:P

Older is better | Reviewer: BandanaWedgie | 11/22/08

I can argue that the older stuff is better respectfully. Its like Iron Maiden.
They are all 50 now... So they can't sing as well as they used to, and they likley have slowed down.
However, Metallica are SLOWING down. However, Death Magnetic put this argument out of the window, because it is also powerful. Yet, the verses aren't as powerful as the older stuff.
Some of the older Metallica wasn't as good, highly due to that it was older, and didn't have as much experience. Ride the Lightning (single song not the album) sounded freaking amazing, and not a bit repetitive, even though it is, but isn't (?).
Trust me, I know what I am talking about with all this Metal and Experience and... stuff. Death Magnetic ftw!!!! (What is up with that name anyway?)

Amazing | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/22/08

Its hard to believe this is the same guy who wrote the lyrics on the new album...

all the lyrics on the 1st 4 albums (and even some later albms) were amazing, none of them seem forced and seemed to 'flow' with the song. You could sense the raw aggression in every verse which made me listen to metallica in the first place.

But since then its been a downward journey.Black album, load, reload did have some nice lyrics,
But i think St anger was lyrically the worst(with a few exceptions) followed by death magnetic. The former was a practically a joke("st. anger round my neck//he never gets respect"?!!) while the latter had lyrics which seemed too abstract, forced and out of place.

Little piece of information... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/30/08

1st of all, its flame, not pain ( because its about electricution, and some people that were electricuted back in tha days caught on fire before they died)... and 2nd of all, i understand where alot of yall are comin from by sayin Metallica's newer shit isn't that good, but you gotta understand somethin about the band back when they made ST. Anger!! 1.) Hetfield was in rehab for over a year, 2.) Ulrich was battling Napster n consequently lost alot o Metallica fans by doin that, 3.) They were trying to integrate Trujillo into tha band n they weren't doing a good job...plus, tha Mustaine beef reached a pinnacle in tha middle of the album ( u can even see so in "Some Kind Of Monster"). Yea, tha drums' new sound n basslines fuckin sucked, but they definetly redeemed themselves on Death Magnetic, which brings me back to the Kill Em' All n Master days!!! All i gotta say is ima Hip-Hop dude (who obviously gets alot o influence from older, respected rock groups) n even I can say that any Metal band that's been around for over 20 years n still doin it has major talent, so hats off to Metallica for doin their thing n gettin better with time.

Flame or Pain? | Reviewer: Wasabi | 8/10/08

Come on guys. If it were "pain" you would clearly hear an "I".
He sings "Flames".
Furhtermore, "I can feel the pain" sounds stupid, he would obviously feel pain in that circumstance. And the last time he sings "I can feel the ******" you can clearly hear an "L" after the first consonant.
Though, it is possible that the lyrics here are right, maybe he sings "pain" the first time, then the two next "flames"

.... | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/27/08

i dont see why anyone wouldnt like their new stuff.
ok
st. anger wasnt the greatest thing in the world, but load and reload werent horrible.
just because your a metalhead (like me)doesnt mean you cant like other stuff.
load and reload really expressed how james was feeling.
you have to respect that.
and ALL the lyrics on st. anger are amazing
you have to learn to respect more than just the music.
and.....i do think it is flame, not pain
listen to it live on the "some kind of monster"
CD.
he says flame.
and he forgets the words to one part.
but whatever.
its flame.

Listen for the "N" | Reviewer: wowfable | 5/20/08

When u listen to this song at the end when he says "Pain" or if u want "flame" listen for what u hear more, listen for the "N" at the end when he says the word. Then try the same for "me" in flame. I personally hear "N"

well anyways i love this song and this band and we all at least have to agree on one thing
Metallica Rocks!!!
and they definately changed my life and how i listen to music.
They changed me for the better.
They always get me though the tuff times.
thats y i love them. :)

Flame | Reviewer: hojar | 1/26/08

Freaking amazing song. And he says I can feel the FLAME, if you cant tell the difference, then you need your ears checked out. Also, in the album, the lyrics say "I can feel the flame"

this song owns | Reviewer: drew | 1/15/08

this song is rad on o' my faves by metallica. and yeah its deffinetly "i can feel the pain" not flame...thats dumb it doesn't make sense. And old metallica is where its at. anonymous whoever you are metallica has sold out thats why they suck. when they were influenced by cliff and shit that was metallica. and the 2 albums after his death were not too bad some solid songs on each album. but think about this if metallica came out and said " OK guys all you get tonight is RE-LOAD" trust me you'd be pissed. when they play their old shit (first 5 albums) thats metallica.

respect | Reviewer: Joe Walker | 12/22/07

to quote an anonymous review "we should like all their songs. so wtf mate", this is false. there is no truth to that statement whatsoever. just because you like a band doesnt mean you have to like every one of their songs. i LOVE Metallica, and ride the lightning is my favourite song of their's, but i also DON'T like One, disappear, or unforgiven, and i'd be willing to bet there are others i havent heard that i would not like, the thing is though, as much as i dont like a song, that still doesnt take anything away from the fact that i RESPECT the song, the work that has been put in to it, and the dedication of the performers themselves to their fans. well, thats my oppinion atleast, and i hope you can respect that.

Freakin' Sweet | Reviewer: Jake | 11/28/07

I absolutley love the guitar tone on this album, as well as that of Master of Puppets. Correction for Mr. Anonymous; Dave Mustaine did not play on this album. Maybe you had it confused with another freakin amazing band. I'm not even sure Dave played on Kill 'Em All. Yes the intro and solo are awesome, but never underestimate the power of the riff. It's a true classic. I don't like their new stuff as much, but I still think their great. Love 'Em or Die.

Sweet | Reviewer: Jake | 11/27/07

I love the guitar tone on this album and on Master of Puppets(their best album). I disagree with the guy above me. Their new stuff is not of the same caliber as the old. The intro and solo are amazing, as has been said, but don't overlook the power of the almighty bridge riff! Metallica created thrash. End of story. Love 'em or die.

Best song ever | Reviewer: Metallica fan | 11/17/07

The lyrics are accurate i listened to the song and read the lyrics didnt get nothing wrong and all of metallica's stuff is good even there newer stuff but i have to agree that most of there older stuff was da shizt

wtf mate | Reviewer: Anonymous | 11/7/07

Ride the lightingis definately one of their best albums, but i still dont understand y everyone dislikes their newer stuff. Come one u dirty t-baggers, metallica's metallica right... we should like all their songs. so wtf mate

HAHa | Reviewer: Kim | 10/6/07

You guys, i have to agree with the guy underneath me... He's right, its i can feel the pain not flame, i checked on Metallica's official website, they have all the lyrics there... nd im pretty sure Metallica's own website would be right...
