This is true genius, nothing less. Such an incredible mix of headbanging jamming hardcore rock interspersed with delicate orchestral instrumentals and topped by mind boggling vocals. Many songs that try to be the best of both worlds do not flow smoothly, but the transitions here are flawless. I can listen to this mindlessly for hours on end and never get bored with it, and am always picking up on a new little nuance. I love to play it with different settings on my surround sound system and make the walls shake. My absolute favorite song of all time from one of the most diverse albums ever. Crank it up to 11 and let the world know that rockers can have appreciation for pure musical joy. There may be no such thing as musical perfection, but I challenge anyone from any era or genre to top this. Bravo to Hetfield & co for this one. I've been a Metallica fan for years, but Clover still takes my breath away every time I hear it. The orchestra only adds to the darkness of the bridge, and the singing is phenomenal. I'm a musician and an opera singer, and I must say, it took me a while to learn all the details of playing and singing Clover. Every time I hear it, something about it that I can't quite put my finger on makes me want to cry tears of joy and sorrow. Truly a beautiful song, by a wonderful band. I don't think they would be quite as good without it.
