/METALLICA\ | Reviewer: J | 5/27/09
When I think of /METALLICA\ in their prime, I just can't help but to think of the Black Album. Just the way everything sounded, Hetfields reigning voice along with the pure thrash sound of his guitar, the machine gun drums of Ulrich, that raw power of Newstead's bass, all wrapped around Hammett's unbelievable guitar solos. It just screams juggernaut! Don't get me wrong, I love "Kill Em All," "Ride the Lightning," "Master of Puppets," and "And Justice For All." That speed and thrash metal of early /METALLICA\ will never be matched by any band. Other Albums like "Load," "Reload," and "St. Anger," bring the hard rock and balleds to the table. Going back to what I said about /METALLICA\ being in their prime with the Black Album, it just seems like the band was able to bring it all together, they put an album out that didn't totally melt your face completely off with rediculous metal, and they didn't bore you with slower riffs like from the later albums. The Black Album had a bit of everything in it, speed metal, thrash metal, and some hard rock, along with a balled from "Nothing Else Matters." The Black album is by far one of the best albums I've ever heard from any metal band, period. Its good to hear that /METALLICA\ is getting back to their old school ways after putting out the album "Death Magnetic," the stuff they have on there makes me truly believe that this band can go on shredding it up for years to come.
Anyways, "My Friend of Misery," great song, really enjoyed it because of how hetfield sings it. He puts a lot of heart and soul into the vocals of this song, and just about all of his songs. Again, great song.
For those out there who say /METALLICA\ sold out, you're right, they did sell out, they've sold out arenas all over the world for over 20 years, and they are gonna sell out for another 20 years.
"/METALLICA\ DIDN'T GO MAINSTREAM, MAINSTREAM WENT /METALLICA\!!!"

just awsome | Reviewer: kathy | 1/14/08
This song is absolutely out of league, the best of the best. No words about the guitars and the drumms, right?, there's no comparison worldwide.
