I'm a hardcore Metallica fan, but my only complaints with them would be the 'steel' sounding drums on the St. Anger album, and the fact that they cut out some solos for songs. This song would be epic with a solo shred from Kirk somewhere in there. Oh, and nothing against Kirk, but I'd like to see Dave Mustaine come back later on and record a song with Metallica. While I do enjoy their earlier stuff heaps, I think the change that took place from Enter Sandman through 'till St. Anger was nessisary. They are older, and therefore have to change a bit.
