True Meanings | Reviewer: Jared | 7/11/09
True meanings of lyrics to a song or the song in its entirity can be viewed in as many different ways as there are grains of sand on Earth. There will NEVER be one true meaning interpreted by the entire collection of listeners to one song EVER. Its like asking someone to give the correct interpretation of a novel. It can't be done. You may show your case of WHY you think of it the way you do, but there will always be other opinions. This song references suicide, yes, but that doesn't necessarily mean that its about suicide. It may be about suicide on its outer cover, but to me, there is a MUCH deeper meaning and interpretation when you dig deeper than what you see on the surface.
Very sad lyrics | Reviewer: Kurt | 6/2/09
This was one of the best Metallica songs i've heard. Absolutely awesome guitar. Bass and drums also contributing quite well. The lyrics are not about suicide. Although they are very sad, it is about stolen gear. Brilliantly made song.
beautiful | Reviewer: kevin | 6/2/09
This song is a masterpiece--the acoustic guitar riffs in it are awesome, and fun to play, the heavy parts intense, the lyrics sad, and altogether creating a feeling of dark despair.
Ride The Lightning is definitely one of the best albums Metallica has ever made.
Touching | Reviewer: Rebzu | 5/21/09
Fade to black has been made carefully... the song starts and ends with an awesome guitarplay, lyrics are quite sad however its no wonder since its on the Ride the Lightning album which has more songs about death. (Creeping Death, Ride the lightning etc.) Definately one of my favourite Metallica songs!
Hey, dumbass below me. | Reviewer: Matt | 5/14/09
I can't believe you have the time to tell other people they're wasting their time with these reviews. Considering you basically did the exact same thing. Hypocrite.
Anyway, this song definitely ranks in the top 5 Metallica songs for me. Just an awesome, awesome song overall.
You all are homosexual. | Reviewer: James Rallio | 5/8/09
You all are homosexual. I cant even believe that you have the time to analyze a song and post long reveiws. I found these reveiews when i looked up the song for concert im about to play, and as i know most of you wont believe that, i dont care. Go do something other than write reveiws. Go to school. Do homework. Laundry. Get laid. Any of the above would be acceptable, just drop your balls and drop this lame conversation. this is the greatest song eva end of conversation. Faggots.

Something that a previous reviewer said is very important and many of you seem to forget that:
Lyrics can be interpreted in different ways - and you have to respect that - I'd say sharing your thoughts about the song instead of convincing eachother of what the song means is the best way to go :-)
RIP | Reviewer: avilash | 4/30/09
What a fuckin song man!!!This song definitely tells bout a person contemplating suicide...the blistering riffs, the harmony of the electric guitar, the thudding drums of lars and cliff just ripping apart..everything at their best...Metallica is hands down the greatest thrash band...
it was me but now hes gone | Reviewer: sorrow filled | 4/27/09
this song really is about suicide, i mean when i heard it the first thing that popped into my head was me blade.... that was mine and my exs song and when he broke my heart every time i hear it i cry and think about my blade cuz thats the feeling that song gives off to you and your feelings
Who Cares? | Reviewer: Kayla | 4/18/09
Who cares if it's about suicide? Lyrics can be interpreted in many ways -- mostly, it depends on the person. I see it as suicide or no more will to live -- so that's how I will see it. Someone else may see that it is about, I don't know, the president, or hummingbirds, or being a businessman. Who knows?
Kickass song, in any case. The lyrics are the best.
