Fade To Black | Reviewer: Cody | 9/16/08
@ The people who are saying that Metallica chose the wrong path with their music:
They chose the path that best suited how they (as a band) felt. Metallica writes music for themselves, not the fans, which is the way all music should be. No, St. Anger wasn't my favorite album by them. Yes I wish they would write songs like MOP and RTL. But as a band grows, their music grows with them.
Metallica is still by far the best band (in my opinion) out there, and I am looking forward to any future albums that they may release.
epicness | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/15/08
This song is definitely My favorite song. I got chills the first time I heard it, and many times after that. I cant wait for death magnetic in september, and their tour! Also, there is going to be a channel on satelite radio where it will be commercial free metallica misic, interviews with the band, and interviews with other bands talking about metallica... As you can see, I am a nut for metallica.

To Everyone | Reviewer: Anonymous | 5/20/08
hey guys...this song is not about his mothers loss..
he wrote this song when on some tour his stuff like amps given by his mom to him were stolen.
he has written two songs for his mother and father loss i.e. until it sleeps, dyers eve.
Love It | Reviewer: Matt | 4/1/08
I love this song, everything about it. The lyrics reflect alot on some aspects of my life, however the loss was not my mother, as it was for hetty.. or a partner as it was in the case of another reviewer. One of metallica's best in my opinion..Best Band Ever.. live on metallica R.I.P cliff burton
reason behind this song..thruth behind the song | Reviewer: metallicaislife | 2/13/08
this song was written by james hetfield when his gear(guitar and amplifier) was stolen in new jersey when they were not at a higher platform and were not having enough money to buy another...james felt really really sad and felt like he is no more...i heard this in an interview of james hetfield
Old song still rocks | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/30/08
Good song i wish they have been continued with oldscholl stuffs like master, fade2, and kill em', but they have chosen wrong way and i feel sorry for them....
best song | Reviewer: sherry | 12/12/07
This song is my absolute favorite by metallica. Although,it was'nt my mom I lost, I lost my husband to suicide. These lyrics fit me too a tee. Metallica most certainly rocks
Simply Brilliant | Reviewer: Metallica Fan | 11/2/07
This song is one of Metallicas best.
Must've been heartbreaking for Hetty, and this was the last song Jason performed with the band.
You can watch it on Youtube if you type in FADE TO BLACK VH1
irony | Reviewer: Anonymous | 10/17/07
