I prefer Metallicas'cover (just because amplifiers and recording performance were better at the 80's, and the vocals were too soft) but Metallica would never exist without those british bands. Listen to the original, it is incredible. cover songs | Reviewer: John | 3/30/07 Budgie was a band that inspired Metallica. So they made a Garage days album to play the songs that inspired them. This has nothing to do with Napster. Napster was not helping the music business at all. Metallica also puts the original bands who sang the song on their album. So if someone likes this awesome song called Breadfan, then they see that it was originally recorded by Budgie. They could look for a Budgie album that has this song, and listen to the other songs. This in turn, helps Budgie grow a bigger fan base. Plus this song is really cool. Breadfan is a cover of a song the original band never got royalties for from Metallica | Reviewer: Mark | 7/6/06 Listen, given all the hype over Metallica and their battle with Napster over the pennies they felt they were being cheated out of (somewhat ironic given the premise of Breadfan, you'd figure anything in writing concerning Metallica doing a cover of another band/s song would be clearly defined in anything you saw or read. I guess not. The original is by a Welsh band called Budgie -who are still around and touring in Europe!
