I love Metallica. Really, I do. But you call yourself a metal band and then put out _this_?
Load was not metal. Load was a bunch of Metallica dealing with their issues. ReLoad was not even that.
St. Anger was angst. It was a step, but it wasn't anything.
Death Magnetic is them becoming metal again.
In my opinion, they made true art with Cliff. I know everyone pulls that, but it's true: Cliff was something special, and after him, they made THIS. it's not metal, it's alt rock. it's not bad alt rock, but it sure as hell ain't the metal i signed up for.

I love this song!! It's so amazing! I agree with those of you who say that James is underrated as a songwriter. He's an amazing lyricist. I've been listening to Metallica literally since before I was even born(the Black album came out a few months before I was born & my dad taped it off the radio. He and my mom listened to it constantly) I like most everything they've done.

in self expression. I love METALLICA. sometimes you've got to scream out your heart to let it go. and this song does it. i feel free whenever i sing it.

Whoever wrote the review "Jaymz Rules!" absolutely nailed it. Music these days is plagued with simple terms and unimaginative ways of making them into a song, and the song writers are getting lazier and lazier with the amount of artists who "nah" or "do" along to the music in place of proper lyrics. James carefully structures every song using metaphors so the meaning is not literally in the lyrics but easily seen once studied.

This song is easily my favourite from Load, and actually could be one of my favourite Metallica songs. It's so powerful that you get the feel of the song without even knowing what the lyrics are exactly saying, and after reading them you realize a meaning. I'm not just a thrash metal fan, I'm a Metallica fan no matter what they write. Each and every song is a masterpiece,and this is a prime example.

Even im a hardcore metallica fan and i like thrash metal songs fast ones better..but bleeding me just made me cry..if ur involved into this song ul notice ur eyes become moist when james cries it aloud "I cant take it,I cant take it ,I cant take it"
James is the most talented lyricist alive..the lyrics of this song convey the most powerful meanings..

Though I am a hardcore fan of METALLICA.... I hate to tell that the intro of this song is heavily inspired by KISS's God of thunder.

One of my favorite songs- killer riffs-pure anger and torment and pain in his voice- mind blowing solo and beautifully masterpieced music building to a heavy metal climax. For those who think load sucks obviously did not listen to this track- or king nothing- or about 5-6 other tracks- one of my favorite albums actually-- I love "I can't take it I CANT TAKE IT I CANT TAKE IT!!!"

who if not a genious could write this i mean this song is so fucking great. i think it talks about the stupid things we do in life that later they hurt us. thats why he says: "This thorn in my side is from the tree I've planted"

This song is really powerful, I'm a real Metallica fan as I like practially every song they've done. These so called fans who slag their 90's stuff off just because they can't appreciate a range of musical talet aren't Metallica fans, they're just thrash metal fans only.

Only one of the masterpieces in Load, sadly underrated by the "real" Metallica fans. By far the best album they've made - powerful, mature, all the colors. I hope Death Magnetic will be as good.

I agree, James is so underated as a song writer! His lyrics are deep, powerful and beautiful. Some people don't like them cuz they can't understand the meaning of them.. and that's because he uses lots of metaphors. The truth is that James lyrics are not for average people.. only the smart ones realize how talented is that guy

i dont like the length of the begining of the song as it is mundane. although i must respect the fact that there are some that would like the start. i do like the rest of the song as it kicks into some hard-core hevy metal action. i love this song!

This is by far my favourite Metallica song, it has so much lust, passion and all the elements that make a great track! I bond with this track in so many ways, it's pure genius as someone mentioned earlier. Very much under-rated with alot music metallica had out out there.

This song epitomized a phase of my life that I went through in my mid-30's. Metallica is so under-rated as an artist - if Bob Dylan had written this song, it would have recognized more easily for the genius, wisdom and poetry it contains! I love it!
