They are by far one of the most influential metal bands that has ever existed;setting the standard for future speed metal or metal in general. But the drums sound terrible, the riffs plain, and hetfields voice wasn't the best at that time. I do know what the lyrics mean and all the shit that was happening at the time, but my sympathy doesn't make the album any better. I used to absolutely hated them, that was mainly because at the time I like pop more than anything. I was introduced to them by a friend of mine when I was about 10, he LOVED them. It wasn't until guitar hero that I actually sat down and listened to them. But I can honestly say that I did listen to them before Guitar Hero, but that game made me appreciate them a LOT more.
