He recorded it when he was about 15 after what happened to on 9/11. This is McFly?! | Reviewer: Rachael Connell | 5/8/07 This song is considerably more mature than anything they have previously done. Impressively so as the lyrics have a meaning as opposed to their usual 'boy loses girl' approach. Although they have had album tracks that have had a more mature sound, none have reached the stage of being considered 'serious'. Silence of the City tackles a catastrophic event that shook the world and although the language is fairly simple it is quite poetic and when it is coupled with the soft accoustic melody it shows raw emotion instead of graphic detail. If this is the direction McFly are intending to take they may face opposition from sceptics, but this does not change the fact that the song has potental, regardless of the sterotypical label that will inevitably be attached to it due to the bands history.
