I think hes talking about being broken hearted. The worst pain you can feel is when you love someone with everything you have and then lose them. For awhile after that you kind of feel impervious to all other pain, like nothing in this world can hurt you as much as that did. By talking about wanting to feel a car crash, a bomb drop, and the world stop, hes trying to find something in this world that will give him some sort of comparable pain or feeling, and that hes going to want to feel those things untill hes "satisfied" and when he finally is, he knows hes ready to move on.
