The Reviews about Coma Black (page 1/1)
------ performed by Marilyn Manson

To me, this song is all from one perspective and "killed myself" means to disconnect and cut off your emotions. To feel nothing. To stop talking to people, even people that you love just because you're angry about something and you want revenge on the world. Hence "make everybody pay"

As far as I can remember this is what its supposed to mean. (Although yes, it is intended for the listener to read whatever they want into it on whatever level they want. That said however most songs do have a preordained structure to them)

This, just like Tools joint Parabol and Parabola song is intended as a two part piece. On the mechanical animals album there was part 1 - Coma White. It tells the tale of a fragile situation between Manson and a partner of his. She was suicidal and her situation with Manson was something she couldn’t handle. She ended up killing herself (possibly because he ended the relationship with her…I can‘t recall the exact reasons). The lyrics in Coma White “You were from a perfect world. A world that threw me away today. Today to run away” are from the perspective of this girl (Who he calls ‘Coma‘). The other lyrics are Manson’s words.

Coma Black is part 2 and is more of a lament than coma white is. This again contains lyrics from the point of view of the girl (Coma) “This was never my world. You took the angel away. I killed myself to make everybody pay. This was never my world. You took the angel away. I killed myself to make everybody pay” Again the other lyrics are Manson’s perspective. The second part is more introspective than coma white. Where as coma white placed more responsibility on the girls mindset and personal issues that caused her to have such an outlook on her life, which led to her suicide, Coma Black however is more introspective and sees Manson looking inward towards how he handled the situation and what he could have done differently.

Quite appropriate. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 8/20/09

I love mansons music... hes such a fantastic realist and musician... I think he makes his songs to mean whatever they're interpreted to mean. If you think it means that your mother hates you then fine... thats what it means... if you've lost the love of your life and want to die. Then thats what this song means. I think without some of mansons music, i would prolly be dead now

What could have been | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/27/08

This sounds like him remorsing on the fact that he loved someone but they didn't nurture the relationship properly and thus their loved burned.
It happened because he didn't know what real love was, and because of the environment around them that probably held it back.
It also goes into the fact that the scar created by their love will probably destroy all future relationships between other people.

meaning for me | Reviewer: Léa | 7/30/07

this song is fantatic. when you love some one and you think that no one but him is you love... you can see that he talk about love some one or die
