Since I loved Mark Anthony's English speaking cd's, I asked my boyfriend to bring a few of Mark's Spanish speaking cd's the next time we got together. Well, he made a compilation cd of all of his favorite Mark Anthony Salsa hits. I had never heard Salsa before! And I was hooked from the start! Alot of the songs sounded the same to me at first, since they all had that same unmistakeable "salsa beat"! But Contra la Corriente immediately stood out for me, and became my first Mark Anthony favorite. I kept the compilation cd my boyfriend made and still play it to this day. Since then I have added every Mark Anthony and Hector Lavoe cd to my collection, and "El Cantante" is one of my favorite movies, but I still look back on "Contra la Corriente" as the reason for my love of salsa music.
