That is why the song is in the first person tense. I feel that the lines such as "I am a little bit of loneliness a little bit of disregard" is an outward cry for help. This song tells a story of how noone will believe that certain thingts are happening. It is written as a last desparate attempt to be understood before it is to late. To me, it's much deeper. Of course, some people are right when they say it is open to interpretation and maybe I am totally wrong. But here goes my opinion: This song is first person. "I am" seems to be the beginning theme. "I am" "I am" is a provocative statement for Christians and Jews alike. It is one of the most famous verses in the Torah. Exodus 3:14 God said to Moses, "I am who I am . This is what you are to say to the Israelites: 'I AM has sent me to you.' " For Christians, Jesus Makes the same claim John 8:58 "I tell you the truth," Jesus answered, "before Abraham was born, I am!" Jesus goes on throughout the New Testament ascribing his deity by the use of this word: I am… bread of life, I am… light of the world, I am… from above, I am… the door, I am… good shepherd, I am… resurrection and the life, I am… way, the truth and the life, I am… true vine, I am… Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, etc etc. The point I am trying to make? Read the Lyrics again, listen to the song. "I am what I want you to want, what I want you to feel" Religion teaches us to be "God Like" "But it's like no matter what I do, I can't convince you To just believe this is real" Religion teaches us that we believe by faith. In general,People today do not have faith, that is why religions are dying. "So I let go watching you turn your back like you always do." God gives us free Will. This is the ongoing and not so subtle underlying theme of the song. Again the underlying and important theme of this song is, God is a small minded egomaniac who needs us more then we need Him.
