Lifehouse is a christian band Period. No if's and's or but's about it. They proclaim to be christians. The Song is about God, i say this based on the line,"You calm the storms, and you give me rest." I doubt that someone is talking about there boyfriend or girlfriend Calming a storm for them metaphorically or otherwise. I personally love this song very much and i thank Lifehouse for writing it about our Lord and Savior. Also to the second gentlman or Lady that mentioned getting your own faith, I am a nondenominational christian. I have my own faith, everyone's faith is different. An to correct you Faith is a verb, it means to believe in something even when there is no physical evidence so if you are going to say "get a thought that's your own, and a system of belief that doesn't parrot someone else's pablum that's been crammed down your throat, that you parrot back at the least opportunity." than you show do some research about christianity before you talk about us. I have my own thoughts on my RELATIONSHIP with god, i dont believe in religion, i believe in relationsip. I believe everyone has a relationship with God, good or bad. In the end when a non-believer is in a situation where they a certain of death what do they usually do?...Pray to God, someone they might not even believe in. Just because you havent experienced the full effects of a relationship with God in your life does not mean he isn't there. And it definitely doesnt mean you are "Parroting" someone elses ideas. Every idea you have ever had in your life probably came from someone else first. The percentage of people coming up with an original idea is probably about 3-7 out. If everyone had there own original ideas we would all be Inventors, which is why only some people are inventors. PLEASE THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU SAY BEFORE YOU SAY IT.

OK, Now here's mmyy Two Cents. Nobody Gives a F*ck if it's about God or Not. People Only Give a F*ck if it's not about God. Secound Point. The Christian Religion is Bullshit. I mean what type of god is so insecure as to need people to actually worship them, I mean ever heard the saying "If you let someone go, and they come back there yours"-God needs to develop that attitude, you know, trust in the people. after all isn't that what religion is all about?
everything lyrics | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/3/07
even if you know this is a song about Gods heart and his love, which i believe it is, you cant argue with the world. it says in luke 24:45 "then he opened their minds so they could understand", unless God opens their minds, they will never understand. people will believe what they want to.

It is soo abotu God. People who dont believe so need to be more open minded bcuz its nt just bout being Jesus Freaks as many call us Christians...many were received Jesus in ma church after watching the skit be re-enacted by our drama crew. i believe this song is too powerful for everyone to fully comprehend its true meaning SERVANT OF THE LORD CHRIST is very real and true way of explaining the song!
God Bless

calm the storms | Reviewer: Anonymous | 9/1/07
I just thought I should point out that the words "You calm the storms" are a direct refence to Jesus - an obvious literary reference (to the places in the gospels where it tells of Jesus calming storms).
My Opinion........ | Reviewer: anon | 8/25/07
different songs could mean different things too different people, some people could relate to it in a another way although this song may be about god some people may relate to it differently for example it could be a song they feel reminds them of their boyfriend or girlfriend or someone close. so theres no point arguing about it.

It's not always about God. It's not all about religion. Please, get a thought that's your own, and a system of belief that doesn't parrot someone else's pablum that's been crammed down your throat, that you parrot back at the least opportunity.
Jesus is my Everything! | Reviewer: Godschangedgirl | 8/22/07
This song has stirred up the most wounded and ugly places in my soul and reminds me that without allowing Him in my life years ago that I might not be here today!! It gives me hope that as I trust in Jesus, and as surrender my dark places to Him, He will heal me and He is covering me! And HE is ALL I need!! He is everything to me!! He has given me the peace that passes all understanding!!
Check out the skit that was performed using this song on Godtube!!! I cried buckets of tears!!!!
Hi all | Reviewer: Servant of the Lord Christ | 8/22/07
hi just thought id put my 2 cents in... umm well ill start by saying this is one of the most amazing songs ive heard in a very long time.. and to all those silly people who say its not about God. you're wrong, soo i thought i'd prove it to you.
Firstly if you read the lyrics they say:
You are the light
That's leading me
To the place where I find peace again.
Now if we look to the Holy Bible in the book of Luke Chapter 1 verse 79 it says: To give light to them that sit in darkness and [in] the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.
Close enough for you guys?
not happy ok
Lyrics state; "You calm the Storms"
again if we look in the book of Luke Chapter 8 verses 23-24 it states:
8:23 But as they sailed He fell asleep. And a windstorm came down on the lake, and they were filling with water, and were in jeopardy.
8:24 And they came to Him and awoke Him, saying, Master, Master, we are perishing! Then He arose and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water. And they ceased, and there was a calm.
Now im sure if you look deeper there is soo much more meaning..
and to those that stated that just because they are a Christian band that it doesn't mean every song they sing is based on Christ.. you are totally correct..however im sure if you did some research that you would find that this one is most certainly one of their songs based on Christ.
most Christian bands would love nothin more than to praise God in all their songs even if it's not 100% clear in their lyrics..
"hidden message"..
anyways you guys all take care now and God Bless

This song IS about God. Check your facts before you go saying this isn't about God. The band has even said it is so you can all stop arguing about how it isn't. If you dont believe in God then you can think of this song as a song for a girl or guy or w/e but the bands intention was to write this song about God.
