I did one better, I read the lyrics first and what I read struck me deep in the fact of her statement 'It reminds me of you, me?' The more I read the lyrics the more I realized that just as God is to us spiritually I, as a father here on earth, am to my children. The fortunate part is that my children know first and foremost, dad is human so that immediately discounts godhood from my portfolio! Yet, they know the deepest part of my heart is my service to the Lord Jesus Christ and to my family. Don't misunderstand my intentions. I deeply identify with my wife and how critical a role she plays in all of our lives but I realize where God has placed myself and I am so thankful to God for that. So now our children are grown and raising their families but knowing that to err is human and we deal with that ourselves, to be broken is to need a fathers shoulder and loving arms to embrace you until the pain goes away. Thank you Jesus for holding me in my tears so I can hold her in her brokeness! this song is wonderful . . | Reviewer: nat. | 8/19/08 I like this song a whole lot. Actually, i like Lifehouse in general a whole lot. They are my favorite band, and I enjoy all of they're songs so much. This is one song that will never get old, and one that I can listen to over and over again. Broken. | Reviewer: Jordan | 7/4/08 this song is amazing. so many lines in this song got my attention. but my favorite part is "broken heart, thats still beating." so many of us wonder why bad things happen to us, and our natural instinct is to blaim, and we blaim God. But the truth is, God puts us through these things to make us stronger. Whenever were goign through something we can always turn to Him, and what ever it is, He can always be able to say "Ive been through that." thats the beauty of God coming to this earth and going through the same things we go through. That line, "Broken heart, thats still beating. " made me think about how whatever God puts you through, Its only what you can stand. He wont put you through something you cant bair. The reason so many of us give up is because we, well, we GIVE UP. we need to look to God and find streangth in Him. Thats why our heart breaks, but it will always keep beating if you keep trying. Broken | Reviewer: Daisy | 5/3/08 I like this song. Especially the line "In your name I find meaning". I think it would be better if it's written this way: "In Your name, I find meaning". Did you see the difference? I'm talking about a relationship with God. There's nothing in this world that's more important than a complete unity, and an intimate relationship with God. I also notice the line "I may have lost my way now, haven't forgotten my way home". I think it pertains to the times when we forgot Him. That our focus is mainly on ourselves and then we lose ourselves because of the decisions we make. But still, we know where our way home. It's Him, only Him. And He's the only One that we need, He's the one who can make everything okay. Resonates with near total despair yet despite the sadness "still holding on" is a sliver of hope. Reminds me I'm not the only one who feels like this and goes on living.
