Keeping time | Reviewer: gardawg | 4/8/09
I really like the way Bonzo keeps time on this song, like a clock... just a steady persistent, insistant beat. Like the water rising. The cymbal crashes are amazing too, they give a really broad, open sound to this song.
When The Levees Broke | Reviewer: John | 1/23/09
I live in Louisiana. I've survived thru Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and most recently Gustave. Gustave literally destroyed the area i live in, then the rain came and flooded about half the parish. All of Ascension Parish (where I live) was without electricity for bout 2 weeks but about a third of the parish didn't have electricity for about a month. and i was layin n my bed sweating (since it was about 98 degrees on day 3) in the dark, and i saw my iPod Shuffle. So i turned it on and put it on random, and wat song should start playing but this one. I immediately started to chuckle at the irony. Now I smile everytime I hear this song. But, I'm still afraid I'll have to disagree with the rest of you because my favorite Zeppelin song is still "Kashmir"
Cannot describe it's badassness in words | Reviewer: Brennen Hankins | 12/18/08
I'm in love with this song. It's hard, it's blues-y, it's more Southern than a girl in Daisy Dukes bent over a cotton field, and the best part, it sounds like it can be used for some badass movie character entrance, like some hardcore dude walking in slo-mo with a big ass explosion in the background. It shatters the mind. Props to Zeppelin for kicking total ass, the song is amazing.
Great song but missing lyrics | Reviewer: Ryan H | 12/26/07
Tecnically, in spite of what i said above, the song is not missing lyrics. These are the complete lyrics to the STUDIO version of the song. The song relies heavily on slurred backing track and, as such, is difficult to re-create live. To date, it has only been played live six times. I have two live recordings of this song on bootlegs and at the end, they add extra lyrics. I cross-checked those lyrics with the lyrics to some various other songs on this site, and it turns out that they are actually just the first verse of "For What It's Worth" by Buffalo Springfield! You could at least put the extra live lyrics in brackets at the end or something. They are as follows:
There's something happening here
What it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
And He tells me
"You have got to beware!"
I think it's time that we stop,children
What's that sound?
Everybody look! It's going down."
The Best | Reviewer: JG | 12/23/07
You can keep "Stairway" and all of the rest.
THIS is my favorite Zep song. Bonzo's pounding, Plant's wailing, and the sound just gets dragged through the mud. Outstanding.
Timeless | Reviewer: Julie Johnson | 9/13/07
Kick arse lyrics, kick ars mix blues-hard rock, timeless and completely applicable to N'awlins...both regarding the oppression of the poor black man and Katrina
One of my faves
Amazing... | Reviewer: Chris Pratl | 8/25/07
This is what LZ was amazing at doing: blues-based rock that sets one hell of a mood and STANDS timeless!
headsplitter | Reviewer: kris | 8/10/07

they played it on the radio and i was so stoked that it was the first song that i got of the internet!! iff only music was like this nowadays....i think they played for the floods of 2006 or whenever they were. great song.
'ripped off' - how dare u! | Reviewer: Promina | 7/28/07
This song is unique in every way! The drum beat simply makes the song along with the haunting guitar in the background, zeppelin have made this song their own! to call this version a rip off is ridiculous because they have created an original pieve of music with someone elses words - u have to appreciate it!!
Work Of Art | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/17/07
