why is this song such an issue? | Reviewer: RZ for Zep head | 1/9/08

First of all"supportpaul",I hope the S.S.,or,C.I.A.notice that one..."hello"....L.Z was obviously big fans of LOTR,s,you don't acually think they would publicly admit to a direct ripoff from Tolkien? Most likely read it during down time between gigs & cities.lot of down time..reading is a great escape for some.especially far from home with a hectic shecedule .constantly pressed for new material.Probably just a case of homesickness, afterall,it's been adopted mythology by the English.P.S.it's not "the darkest steps" it's depths duh"tim".

Ramble On was the Zeppelin song that referred to "Mordor" and was based on Tolkiens Lord of the Rings. The Battle of Evermore is in reference to a battle in the times of King Arthur. "Castle Wall" Angles of Avalon. Avalon. In the end the idea is wars never bring the balance back

everyone shuold just CHILL | Reviewer: RON | 1/8/08

LZ was obviosly big fans of LOTR and probably read Tolkien in their spare time, what with all the down time between shows, prob'ly a little escape periodically I know I need it and my life isn't nearly as hectic as thier's must have been" constantly pressed for new material" in a strange country.seems like a bit of homesickness to me,afterall,it's been adopted mythology by the English.Do your research."evermore" still the "BEST"

Art Fades | Reviewer: Tourbillon | 1/4/08

Of course the song finds its inspiration in LOTR, combining a haunting melody with a distressingly pathetic aping of Tolkien's poetry. But to know that you actually have to read the masterpiece, which is far more subtle, complex, and intelligent than anything, particularly the characteristically adolescent lyrics, that a rock band ever could produce. Ever more.

You folks should exercise the same passion for your personal composition as you do the LZ lyrics. Your grammar and spelling need some attention.

Avalon | Reviewer: Jacob Henderson | 12/30/07

Avalon is a city in the west in Tolkien's mythology, inhabited by both Elves and Gandalf's kind, so "the angels of Avalon" probably refer to the wizards.

its about LOTR, ring wraits, the eatern glow, mortals never knowing, dancing in the dark, the angles of avalon, etc... it all fits, most people assume its from LOTR cause of the ring wraith reference, and they're right but quick to jump. The rest of you are morons. Go read the books.

Jeez... | Reviewer: Turd | 12/26/07

How about you people just enjoy the song. There's obvious elements of LOTR in the song, but who really cares if it's entirely about this, or entirely about that. It's a great song, and unless you heard LZ say something directly in an interview, you don't really know for yourself.

great song. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 12/14/07

i only came to look at the lyrics but ive seen some of the comments on the connection with lord of the rings. It probably is since it fits closly with the final battle in the books and plant sings about gollum and 'the evil one' (sauron) in another song, 'ramble on'
