The Greatest never cease to amaze new ears | Reviewer: Blaze | 10/18/07
Being a fairly young Led Zep listener (26) i find that new artist cannot compose such beautiful symphony as classic artist. Maybe it was the more often occurance of finely hand crafted instuments of rock awesomeness or the dedication that came with an era of Absolutely No .. cpu vga xb360 pswhatever tivo.com. All i know is that Page and Plant flow into my ears like hot syrup flows onto a hot stack of hotcakes. After a good smoke and a nice cup of scotch i could get lost for hours listening to fine songs like No Quarter and Achillies. No other band ive heard reaches to me with multiple emotions like Zep with songs like "the song remains the same" "stairway to heaven" and "the rain song". All i know is if there was a little tool shead i need to find it.

The first time I heard this. | Reviewer: X092 | 10/18/07
I know for fact that I heard this song, but the first time it came on when I was ridiculously high, I swore it was the work of a musical/mythological mastermind, which it is. It captured my interest immediately and nearly made me weep with the emotion that hit me that is included in this amazing piece.
One of the best | Reviewer: Anonymous | 10/9/07
This is easily one of the best of Zepp songs next to Stairway and Achilles, I don't think theres a Zepp song that I dont like! Rock on!

No quarter is awesome, and that electronic sound you hear is mostly theramin. the synth is rarely played. the synth is only used to sequence Plants voice the way it is modeled in the song. you might want to know which instruments in the song are used and how much before you open your mouth. And why dont you try to organize a masterful melding of theramin and traditional instruments. obviously you dont enjoy musical ambience. the barage of sound keeps the listener in tacted to the music by re-capturing their attention time and time again.
The song is norse mythology based. at what part in the lord of the tard series are frodo and pippin thanking thor for winds to sail on? The song is based on that famous period of norse muthology where they were trying to transition to christainity, note the appearence of the devil in this work.
Plants vocal abilities are well outlined in this song. Singing non pasagio in low volume is a very difficult. the ranging is low to high, but in low volume. more often then not in most music, high note rang is marked mezzo forte to fortissimo.
awesome song for all ages....i'm now 50 | Reviewer: kkkkt | 8/21/07
I am sitting here watching my most recent rental from NETFLIX "The Song Remains the Same". I used to watch it on tape when I had a VCR. The live version is the best. I wish that everyone I know could feel the feeling I have when I listen to it and I wish it could be bottled and the world could live in a better place with the feeling it invokes.

There are many good points and bad points to the song. The first thing that I noticed in the song was that there was too much synthesizer. However, soon afterward the song redeemed itself by weaving a magical story. I think it's safe to say that Led Zeppelin was partly inspired by Tolkien when writing it, but it is a foolish thing to say it was only inspired by the works of J.R.R. Tolkien. If you listen to the words and the story, the song is inspired by Norse mythology and in many ways is simply original. Aside from the magic, though, the song has a message: Truth must conquer evil even though it sometimes it means heroes facing the darkest ends of hell.
This song is a shining example of Plant's vocal abilities. Songs like Immigrant Song and Communication Breakdown show his ability to belt it out and make those high notes sound amazing, but songs such as No Quarter and Achilles' Last Stand show the finess and calmness in his voice. Everytime I hear him sing this, it is something that makes me want to cry because he makes the listener realize how truly emotional and magical the song is.
I would not rank this song among Led Zeppelin's greatest (even though it is a great song), but I would rank it among Plant's greatest vocal demonstrations.
'bout no quarter | Reviewer: 12l | 6/25/07
Actually, John Paul Jones came up with lots of the lyrics and the essential melody. Why didn't he do more? This song is so philosophical, not only in the lyrics but in the tune.
Time for sleep | Reviewer: danrose | 6/17/07
If anything puts you to sleep, it's this song. Not in a bad way. A beautiful song, an extraordinary composition. However just lie in bed, listen to this song, and you'll doze off.
