Not about a drug trip | Reviewer: ZoSo | 10/15/11

"...are you sure he was writing the song about a road? sounds kind of like a drug trip, a pretty awesome one, but still a drug trip..."

No, it was definitely inspired by the Moroccan road and the band has confirmed that on several occasions. Plant wrote the lyrics and he was never into heavy psychedelic drugs that sent a person on a "trip". He smoked pot, drank booze and later took pain killers, none of them "trip" drugs. Page was a heroin addict for the last five years Led Zeppelin was together (and the downward spiral in their music shows it), but heroin isn't a "trip" drug either; its a "make you feel good" drug, one a person takes to escape, not to see visions with.

Kashmir reflects the interests of the two, both scholarly. Page was into mysticism and spirituality, Plant was into epic legends (like Lord of the Rings), so the song is really about the the spiritual awakening of all mankind, rising out of the desert hell of the current Piscean Age into the Aquarian Age, "when all will be revealed".

Time Travler ggg io | Reviewer: vinelord | 8/27/11

My brother Shane who claimed to be a time traveler met Jimmy Page in the past when Page was a child years before Shane was even born while time traveling. Shane is now known as Light Jewel Dynamis at the Malad nursing home where he suffers from schizophrenia a brain disease. This song by Led Zeppelin could be about Light Jewel Dynamis meeting with Jimmy Page as they time traveled.
Oh, let the sun beat down upon my face (light to the grapevine kingdom), stars to fill my dream (truth to the mind)
I am a traveler of both time and space (Jimmy Page was a time traveler also), to be where I have been (page time traveled into the future to see great glorious grapevine)
To sit with elders of the gentle race (gods of the kingdom of heaven), this world has seldom seen
They talk of days for which they sit and wait, all will be revealed (vinelord)
Talk and song from tongues of lilting grace, sounds caress my ear (revelation of the true spirit)
But not a word I heard could I relay, the story was quite clear (ggg great Glorious Grapevine)
Ohh
(Chorus)
Oh, oh
Oh, oh
Oooh, baby I've been Flying... Mama, there ain't no denyin'
Oooh yeah, I've been Flying, Mama ain't no denyin', no denyin'
All I see turns to brown, as the sun burns the ground (the vision of the future)
And my eyes fill with sand, as I scan this wasted land (all the land was desolate of water from Christ)
Trying to find, trying to find where I've been. (07-07-07 = ggg the wealth of heaven)
Oh, pilot of the storm that leaves no trace (holy spirit), like thoughts inside a dream
You've the map that led me to that place (great glorious grapevine), yellow desert stream (water in one place ggg.io internet world directory a mlm rock revolution)
My Shangri-La beneath the summer moon (summer solstice), I will return again
Sure as the dust that blows high in June, when moving through Kashmir.(when their lives near their end they seek comfort in old age to resurrection)

Oh, father of the four winds, fill my sails (the ggg path gives life), across the sea of years
With no provision but an open face (repentant), along the straits of fear
(the vinelord will lead them)
ohh
(Chorus)
When I'm on, when I'm on my way, yeah
When I see, when I see the way they stay (vinelord), yeah
Ooh, yeah-yeah, ooh, yeah-yeah, when I'm down...(join great glorious grapevine)
Ooh, yeah-yeah, ooh, yeah-yeah, well I'm down, so down
Ooh, my baby, oooh, my baby, let me take you there (one with the vinelord)
Let me take you there
Let me take you there
(find his lost child in the wealth of heaven)
we are i am.

Shane said you tesser on a spiritual embryo cord in meditation.

Page used a violin bow back in his Yardbirds days | Reviewer: Anonymous | 6/28/11

You can watch him use it on YouTube while playing the Yardbirds version of Dazed and Confused from way back in the day.

Cant use a violin bow on a guitar..... Jimmy Page didnt understand the word "cant".

wow | Reviewer: Anonymous | 4/11/11

My parents used to CRANK this song. Needless to say, ive followed in their footsteps. They lyrics are awsome, the simple repeating, yet perfect riff rings in our heads who have heard it. One of their best...

The song was written by plant while he was travelling TO kashmir, not in. They wrote many pyrics for that album during that trip.

As well... "ITS IMPOSSIBLE TO PLAY THE GUITAR WITH A VIOLIN BOW".... nO... just no. Jimi Page made this popular. Watch the song remains the same, the dazed and confused section. He rocks out witht he bow for 5 minutes, ripps half the horse hair in half, yet still keeps playing. One of the most interesting sounds in music..

Not to mention, David Gilmor form Pink FLoyd used many things in such a mannor, a mic stand, a aluminu,m cigar tube ( was his favorite), guitar sting..... The list goes on and on. Listin to "live at pimpeii". The etheral sounds are gilmore using a cigar tube as a slide. Ive tried this, if you crank the echo, and reverb, with moderate distortion... its one of the greatest sounds to make.

The Song is about Morocco not Kashmir | Reviewer: Omar | 4/12/11

Let me confirm what a reviewer had said below. The song is about a road in Morocco that inspired Robert Plant to write about it. He is a regular visitor to Morocco. You will find on Youtube many jamming sessions he had with many Moroccan musicians. You can feel in the rhythm of the song the Moroccan beat.

Let me add that that same road has been travelled upon by the members of the Rolling Stones and Jimi Hendrix. It is part of the Hippi trail. Harley-Davidson riders still use the road today in search of escapism. The road starts from Marrakech cuts through the Atlas mountains to Essaouira, then Agadir and Ouarzazate where many of the blockbuster Hollywood films about the Middle East (Lawrence of Arabia) and ancient Rome (Gladiator) are filmed.

Guitars and bows | Reviewer: Jet | 4/8/11

Some misinformed person wrote: "IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PLAY THE GUITAR WITH A VIOLIN BOW. Guitar strings are FLAT. Guitars are also impossible to play as you would a violin, or even a cello. Do some research, or use some common sense before you go posting a review."

1. Not all guitar strings are flat. See here for a couple of examples:
www.matheasguitars.com.au/diagrams/fretboardRadius.jpg

2. Actually, it is quite easy to play some guitars as you would a violin or a cello.

3. Do some research of your own. You come off as an idiot.

Yeah, you're wrong brah. | Reviewer: More Hardcore Led Zep Fan Than The Dude Two Posts Below Mine | 3/14/11

You can use a violin bow on a guitar. It sounds like shit, but that is appropriate in certain songs lol. Listen to How Many More Times, the part in the song where he's like "I got me a girl and i kissed her, whoops oh no i and i did it again", that eerie kind of nails on chalkboard sound you hear is Jimmy fucking his guitar with a long wooden object known to some as a violin bow.

Anyhow, I feel bad for you, seeing how you've never seen Led Zep live. You're going to die an empty man.

The title is a misnomer, the song is about the desert plains of | Reviewer: Led Zeppelin maniac | 1/30/11

Perhaps most people dont know that although the song is titled 'Kashmir'...,this song is not about 'Kashmir'...its about a Road Trip that the Robert Plant(vocalist) took driving from Goulimine to Tantan in the Sahara Desert...the song is dedicated to that place not Kashmir you Kashmiri idiots.

So stop politicising great music you dumb Kashmiri sissies.....let the music be pure!!

Factual errors, but great music | Reviewer: A former guitarist and violinist | 1/29/11

Ok, let me start by saying that this is one of the most amazing songs ever written. I don't know much about the geography of the region personally, but based on what I can gather from google images Kashmir doesn't have much sand, but is rather a snowy, somewhat mountainous region. I think Led Zeppelin might've written this about a middle eastern area. A great song by a great band, but Zeppelin might need some geography lessons. And to correct an earlier comment, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PLAY THE GUITAR WITH A VIOLIN BOW. Guitar strings are FLAT. Guitars are also impossible to play as you would a violin, or even a cello. Do some research, or use some common sense before you go posting a review.

Beautiful song, Rocking | Reviewer: Riaz | 1/3/11

The song is excellent, i listen it regular basis. I want to force Indian Government to resolve Kashmir issue as soon as possible, the indian army trying to suppress Kashmiri will. This is understood as UN mission insisted that the opinion of Kashmiris must be ascertained, while India insisted that no referendum could occur until all of the state had been cleared of irregulars. I want to ask from Indians that, is the killing of Kashmiris not belongs to irregulars? these signs shows that you are afraid of losing Kashmir, if not than start referendum now! Thank you very much for the song LZ

Freedom for Kashmir | Reviewer: aliji | 12/20/10

I have been listening to LZ's song and longed to visit Kashmir as a result. Finally did and was not disappointed. Beautiful people, beautiful place.
The only unwanted distraction was the presence of the Indian military poking guns in your face and generally creating a tense atmosphere. Please, let the Kasmiri's have their valley back. They are deserving of this as it should never have been 'given' away by the British in the first place.....

As plant sings.. today more relivent then eva | Reviewer: Biggest fan of Led zap from kashmir! | 8/25/10

The larger then life song ever created!

This in response to the Indian guy below... "To sit with elders of the gentle race, this world has seldom seen, They talk of days for which they sit and wait, all will be revealed' This my friend was written for the people of Kashmir, the most peace loving people on earth by the great music god himself! Kashmir was occupied by indian forces back in 1948 till now thousands of people have gave away thier lives of the paradise. Nine years and seven years kids are being killed by indian forces everyday. How the heavens can we tolerate such a thing happen, soo we search for freedom, its in our blood!
So "Go INDIA GO BACK" ,"live n let live in peace".. i know this is not the right platform for all this but at-least the world gets to know.
And the kasab thing you are talking about, he is a Pakistani not a kashimiri,, its all togher a different theme..
Led zapplin rocks for ever. Rock and peace. \m/ \/

Awesoem song | Reviewer: An Indian | 4/17/10

I was gg thru "the 500 greatest Songs" published by Rolling Stones in mid 90s,
I'm stunned listening to this song...Nice one ya...
A special note to the Kasmiri who said tht Kashmir is illegaly occupied by India...he prooves tht he's not a Kashmiri but a Pakistani who have taken oath to completely destroy India...these r the ones who have made this beautiful land a Hell, they don't simply understand "live n let live in peace"...for more information google about Kasab and u'll knw it all...they are many but he's the latest nightmare.

zep fan | Reviewer: Anonymous | 3/9/10

i see so many people saying that led zeppelins songs bring them to a enchanting place and keeps them relax i can see this for some songs but some not so much they have a wide varity of sounds and difernt skills that seem to blend perfectly no other band can or will achiev what they have they truely are the best but if they always bring you relaxation then my friend you need to listen to more songs because songs like black dog heartbreaker good times bad times and the infamous immigrant song are just so upbeat that they make more more energetic then dance but hey maybe thats just or maybe your listening to the music but your not hearing it
